Good value for money. Staff was kind and service was fast. The atmosphere was a little bland.
We had breakfast here this morning & came away so very disappointed. I had the creamy mushrooms which were horrible, they were watery, under cooked, they had a very sweet taste, possibly had put sweet chillie sauce in, which I like but in mushroom sauce??? Two of us had them & neither of us enjoyed them!! My husband had the whitebait, which was tasteless & just one pattie with a plateful of salad & chips, so not worth it. We are regular visitors to Hokitika but will definitely not be having a meal here again!
Poached eggs were really hard. Paid $35 for this meal. Do not recommend.
Without doubt, the best coffee I had on the West Coast and super friendly staff. The Clocktower Cafe opens early for your caffeine fix if you are off out to take photos, catch a fish or set off on an adventure. I can also highly recommend the poached eggs on toast as a tasty way to set you up for the day!
Friendly, welcoming service. I had the corn fritter, sandwiching bacon and some leaves of spinach, topped with a quarter of a tomato. I liked how light it was, I didn’t want a heavy breakfast. I think the flavors could have been brought through with some additional herbs. There was some kind of sauce, a light chutney but not sure. Boyfriend said the coffee was the best he’s had in New Zealand flat white. I’d go back if they had more options for bagels, not just bacon and egg but salmon, cream cheese et .
