Came in with an injured toe and was helped by the friendly receptionist, nurse and doctor. Waited less than 5 minutes. Excellent service. Positive experience.
As New Zealand residents we were asked to prepay 125nzd before seeing the doctor. They were not sure whether this money could be reimbursed by the Southern Cross insurance.
PLEASE hire new receptionists ! Firstly, thank you for the lovely doctor with the North American accent who spent time to diagnose my daughter and did a fabulous job ! Thank you to the lovely nurse who helped on arrival ! On 21 January 2022 on arrival with a child who was visibly in pain and could barely walk. The first thing the receptionist did made us pay $125 and in the process overcharged us by $45. No apologies, later or the entire time we were there. Refund was given 3.5 hours later when we left, with the usual death stare included. We waited three hours before they called us in. There was a couple in the waiting room who also was visibly upset about the time he had to waithe was there since 10AM and complained around 2.30PM. After 2.5 hours waiting, when I spoke to the receptionist that my child is in pain, it can be potentially a serious medical issue. She advised that I can drive to Thames if I no longer want to wait. I was not yelling but obviously when you have a sick child, waited 2.5 hours and the two receptionists could not care less, you would start to get irritated. Absolutely disappointing, if we had a choice we would have gone to anywhere else.
Amazing people! There is a free BP apparatus that you can use if you need to. It’s a walk in clinic but take less time than you are at your GP. Smiling staff, competent doctors- what else you need
Absolutely shocking service and info from whoever I spoke to today about getting a COVID test. Very rude, didn't explain anything and just wanted to get off the phone. Ended up speaking to Te Korowai Hauora and the lady was very helpful and explained that we need to speak to a nurse triage service. From what I can see in the reviews of this centre there's great doctors and nurses who's efforts are thwarted by the front desk.
Not receiving the correct information needed for booking an appointment. Handed in my forms to have the MBMC as my primary doctor and there was no progress on that which causes me to pay Non patient prices still.
Would not recommend. I contacted Mercury Bay to book a casual appointment for an urgent matter. Initially I was offered an emergency appointment but once I clarified that I was a casual client from out of town I was told I could no longer have that appointment slot and I would instead have to wait in the centre all day in the hope of a drop in appointment which would cost $125. This disregard of social distancing considering the covid alert levels at the moment was pretty shocking. I then called “Te Korowai Hauora O Hauraki-Whitianga” who were very professional and immediately acknowledged my urgency to receive medical attention. They offered me an appointment for an hour after my call for a lower cost of $80 which included getting bloods done with results the following day. Te Korowai Hauora O Hauraki-Whitianga is a non profit organisation that I would much rather support and would urge others to do the same.
I was seen after hours by Dr Joan MacEachen. I had a fish hook stuck in my finger. So deep it was not easily removed. After 3 shots of pain bock Joan carefully removed it without me needing stitches. She was absolutely lovely and i would be happy to have her as my regular doctor.
I arrived with my little boy grey and all but unresponsive and having difficult breathing, and with professional care and a quick hookup on the nebuliser, walked out with a talking boy .. so, very, very happy and much thanks to the Mercury Bay medical team for your attentive care
Health care for under 5's is free in nz, they wanted to charge $45 for under 14year old casual patient. Under 14s registered or not receive free health care in NZ either from registered GP or an a&e, How you guys receive the funding still choose to charge this much with no emergency care centre or a&e in whitianga for casuals to go to is just wrong. Also FYI it doesnt matter if people cant pay at time of consultation you cannot refuse them medical care. Take their details and send them to debt collection if they dont pay but most people do pay. So much for your oaths when you all started medicine. If your needing to see a doctor in Whiti go to Te Korowai or just drive to thames. My nephew, didnt get satisfactory care here either waited 2 days for an exray on his broken and dislocated thumb and bad ligamemt damage only to be told by specialist at hamilton a couple days later he got xrayed too late and its been sitting in a cast too long to do surgery etc and now his thumb is buggered for life.
