Our promise to you - Our plants are grown by people who love plants!
Our business has been operating for over 25 years! It all started with a wheelbarrow full of plants by Alan & Faye Portman. Ten years ago they handed over the reigns to Steven & Louisa Portman.
We pride ourselves on Great Quality, Great Prices, Great Service!
Between all of us there is close to 100 years of combined experience!
A lots of our plants are grown on site, so you know that the plants are suitable for the Wairarapa! We are more than just a "Garden Centre", we are a nursery. So, you know we grow plants and not just sell them! We are the Wairarapa exclusive stockists of 'Dragonestone' stone range. We are also importers of Top Quality pots. Excellent garden center, love this place, lovely selection of trees and shrubs some you can not get anywhere else, especially some of the standard trees , shrubs, standard English roses. Very good selection of annuals, vegetable plants, love some of the concrete urns etc. Nice selection of roses with some standard English ones as well which is great.. The staff are excellent what more could you say. The husband and wife team just the best, as for the mother, what a wonderful lady, the dearest and sweetest most knowledgable, could go on they are all top people, and they are all very knowledgeable. This garden center is really worth a visit, so don't take my word for it, take a drive over to the WAIRARAPA to CLAREVILLE NURSERY and GARDEN CENTER for a weekend drive worth while. Thankyou Louise.
Nice staff, good knowledge, wide range of plants and other bits you need. Probably the best 'home brand' potting mix I've used. Most prices seem to be on on par or under the larger chain stores.
Loved this excellent nursery. I ordered 3 Glorious rose plants, but these far exceeded my expectations. So nice to meet Lou as well!
Nice nursery with a good selection. Bit on the smaller side compared to other garden centres but still a good place to visit. Plant stocks are good, the smaller selection would be on items like garden tools and the like Prices are reasonable and the staff are helpful and knowledgeable. Careful entering and exiting as it is on a busy main highway with a 100 km/ hour speed limit. Coming from the north the entrance can be hard to see and difficult to slow down in time. If that's the case go into Clareville Bakery next door and you can walk through from their car park.
If you need advice they know their products very well, they will listen to what you need, and come up with helpful suggestions and recommendations. I like that it is a family business, all their staff are really helpful. Got a fantastic blue skinned Buffalo grape here. This is my favourite nursery.
Wairarapa's best nursery. Amazing, especially if you are looking for trees. They also offer delivery if you have bought more than will fit in your car.
Awesome nursery, diverse range of plants and trees, well stocked. Also good range of compost products. The team really know their stuff. Would recommend for anyone looking for plants in the Wairarapa.
I enjoy going to this nursery, mostly because of the service. They have a good variety of plants, especially outdoor plants. For the nursery in general I would have given three starts but it's their staff that earns the additional star. They are very helpful and accompany you to find what it is that you are looking for rather than just point in a direction. Staff can be asked about any diseases and they have even delivered plants that I could not transport.
We love Clareville Nursery, an excursion there is always a pleasure. Great stock, and lovely, friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful staff.
