CLARENCE, a man of quirky behaviours, has been known to bring out the best in Mavis. Complimenting her style and grace, Clarence, opened nights at Mavis, serves a smart yet casual tapas menu with a great selection of wine & beers.

Story

We have a new menu for 2013 to compliment our wide selection of wine and beers. Here are a couple of items from the menu to wet your appetite:

Summary: I won't be back to dine in, but if they do the calamari dish as take away then count me in! My boss made a reservation for 12. The reservation ended up being for the wrong branch. We looked at the confirmation email together - it was really confusing and unclear. So, to be fair, the staff weren't expecting our large group. Service: The food took 45min to start being served and the service was slow. By the time my meal was served, others had finished eating. This was the major downfall of my experience. Meals: The calamari was cooked to perfection I tried some of my workmates. My burger was huge, and pretty good. It was listed as "Fried Chicken" with no reference to a lot of curry powder in the coating. I like curry so it was fine for me, but came as a surprise compared to the menu so buyer beware. Waffle chips were really good! Watch out for coriander hidden in other dishes. Ambiance: It was so hot at our outdoor table. There were plastic walls but outside of us rolling the whole thing up there was no breeze at all. It would be great on cooler days but don't sit out there in summer! The décor is not to my taste, I would call it "shabby chic" - mismatched chairs and half painted tables. Just not my thing but each to their own. 3 stars from me, saved by the food.
Lovely cafe food. You can choose from a menu or from the cabinet. The vegetarian selection was limited but the one dish we got was delicious - Turkish eggs with naan, dukkah and herb labneh. One of the best locales for breakfast in Hamilton. Mushrooms to die for! We had the King Breakfast, eggs Benedict, potato and leek soup and berry hot cakes for the little one. Exquisite and punchy flavors all around. Highly recommended for the whole family. Soothing, homely atmosphere and a friendly, dedicated staff.
Yummy food. New menu. Staff were great, food was excellent and good coffee too. We stop here quite regularly as the kids love their Whittaker’s hot chocolates. They change up their menu seasonally which means it’s easy to find something new and exciting. The cabinet is always stocked with delicious cakes, slices and cookies too.
Googled this cafe. Not from Hamilton was there for the Basketball Nationals. Food delicious! Coffee great! and I'm fussy with coffee.
Really enjoyed my granola at Mavis today The coffee wasn't as good as it has been in the past but everything else was great. They always have a great selection of cabinet options too and I had to try the lamington Parking: Shared parking lot which may be harder to find a spot during the week but they do have some allocated parking.
RESPECT @Mavis&Co - hubby brought this home this morning to wake me after his gym run Ingenious team - if you can’t change it, find a way to work with it, small steps - big impact, including on my own thoughts.
Went in for lunch today with my parents as I was visiting. Seriously disappointed. The overall cost was ridiculous but would have been acceptable had everything been enjoyable. However, the woman at the till was miserable. The food was bland but thanks goodness for the salt & pepper on the table which helped save it. The water glasses were hot so in the heat of the day we had warm water. They also put cream in a smoothie without saying it had cream so the DF person couldn’t drink it. All in all, to sum it up, we will NOT be going back.
Meal was good but the service was a bit slow as no one came to take our lunch order for a while, so we had to call one over. The waitress wasn't that friendly either. I prefer the Rototuna Mavis & Co and am unlikely to return to this one
Brilliant little cafe, breakfasts are very tasty. Mavis & co do the best Christmas mince pies, you have to try one to believe it. They’re a little pricy though.
