Clapperton Equestrian is a newly established business set up by Kim and Alana Clapperton, located in the Manawatu area. We offer schooling and education of newly broken ponies to experienced schoolmasters. Whether you have a pony that you would like to have campaigned for the season or you are going away and would like to keep your pony in work we can cater to your needs. Alana has been riding since she was five years old and has been showing competitively for around eight years. She has had great success, now with 13 national titles to her name and together with her mum, Kim has produced a number of top showing ponies including Beechcroft Chablis (Small Pony of the Year 2009), Beechcroft Socialite (Small Pony of the Year 2011) and Buckton Showdown (Large Pony of the Year 2011). Alana has also represented New Zealand in Werribee, Australia three times in 2008, 2009 and 2012 at the EA Show Horse & Rider Championships. Kim was an international jockey and rode in Asia, Europe and Japan during her very successful career. She worked with horses from a young age and has a wealth of knowledge in areas of horse conditioning and preparation.
We are based from a 10 acre property on the outskirts of Palmerston North, with a full sized arena, a grass track surrounding the property and have access to a 1800m sand track 20 mins away. The beach is also nearby.
We also have plenty of opportunity to take young ponies out with a number of small sports days and training days in our area as well as Pony Club, Tielcey Park and dressage trainer Penny Castle 5mins down the road.
Limited spaces are available but please feel free to contact us for more details.
