The Civic Theatre, built in 1906, is of national historical significance making it a unique venue for events including international touring shows, local stage productions, concerts, weddings, conferences, meetings, and community events. There is a range of areas for hire including rooms ideally suited for breakout rooms, workshops or for refreshments, cocktail functions or dinners. The complex is fully licensed and is located in the city centre, five minutes from the airport and within walking distance from most inner city accommodation.

Our experienced event management staff have extensive local knowledge and will assist with your conference planning - floor layouts, hospitality, catering, security, technical requirements, entertainment, accommodation and more.

We wandered in randomly early on a weekday morning while passing through Invercargill and we were welcomed and even taken through to have a look inside the theatre itself, much to the delight of my son and I. It is beautiful, the lady we interacted with on site was wonderful and accommodating of a couple of tourists who blew in off the street haha. We loved it
The ballet was brilliant. The staff superb. One particular Patron was a right Karen . But that was the only blur of the entire event. Another fabulous show!
A lovely old theatre with a lot of character and very beautiful architecture. It can be a little bit difficult to get around, but there is an elevator for those with disabilities to reach the second floor balcony.
Fabulous iconic theatre. I have attended a variety of events/performances here. Most recently Jersey Boys stage production by Invercargill Operatic Society.
Absolute icon. What a privilege to see one of N.Z's best loved bands here.
What a stunning ornate building. Great to see New Zealand architecture being preserved and still in use.
Went for the Covid jabs. Lovely staff and extremely efficient. Had my first Jab in Tauranga few weeks ago and that place was a bit more professional but can't complain too much about the Civic theatre Covid vaccine arrangement
This is an amazing piece of architecture. It is a credit to the people who maintain it. The acoustics are first class. We have been blessed to be able to watch many first class shows their. It is an asset of value to the city.
Great theatre, such an icon. Wonderful venue to enjoy the spectacular Les Miserables show. Once again a great venue, this year We will Rock you. 2024 and still the best venue, this time Kaylee Bell
Went to watch Jimmy Karr..nice venue, but the seats need refurbished...
