Non profit community centre offering excellent childcare for 18months to 5 year olds.
Teacher child ratios
City Kids Caters for children from 2 years to five years old. We provide excellent TEACHER: CHILD ratios of just over 1:6 for most of the day. (GOVERNMENT REGULATIONS ARE 1:10)
Food
We provide a nutritious morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, and late snack. This is made by our onsite cook taking into account the elements of a balanced healthy diet. Morning and afternoon tea are served with milk, and water is available with all meals. Where we can, children are involved in this process.
Our curriculum
Te Whariki describes ‘curriculum’ as everything that happens to a child while at the centre. We plan experiences for children based on their interests, coupled with passions of teachers. Projects around inquiry learning are a large part of our focused planning, and at the same time children’s spontaneous play is valued and encouraged.
Qualified experienced teachers
All our Teachers have Early Childhood Qualifications, are Registered Teachers and are encouraged to continue their professional learning. Between the seven teachers there is 53 years experience working in the early childhood field.
Non profit community centre
This means that we are here for the families and children. Any profit goes straight back into the centre to make improvements. The centre, building and land are owned and governed by current parents in conjunction with the teaching team. This means we can make use of the expertise of a wide range of parents to the betterment of the centre without the risk of needing to move premises at any point.
