When my partner suggested we take the tram, I was a bit apprehensive. I mean, really? That's for the kids, surely? But the staff patter was informative and entertaining. We got on and off a few times, and in the end nearly did three circuits just to hear what other drivers had to say - they all have a different routine, some more dad joke humorous, some historic with dates, and some more about the local and social aspects of the CBD before, during, and after the quakes. Highly recommended.
Certainly a must do when in Christchurch. The commentary is amazing, so much information. Hop off to visit places of interest and hop on again to continue as often as you like.
A must do in Christchurch. Trams are well maintained and the city is gorgeous. Regent street is a real highlight. Conductor and driver on the tram were super friendly and well informed about the city. Highly recommend especially if you have a little one
A brilliant way to both get around the city, but also get a unique, guided tour around the city centre, hearing about the history of the city. We ended up riding around the city twice throughout the day, alongside a few hops on and off . Both drivers were brilliant guides
The trams are pretty, it's a novelty, and it's an easy way to see different parts of the city, but the narration could do with some improvement. The driver pointed out a few main points, but it was mostly about where to eat and a few landmarks. It would have been better if there'd been a more detailed history of the city provided, and of course how the quake had affected it. Personally I think it's a little bit pricey for what it is, so if recommend trying to find a discount deal if you can.
Such an amazing experience and awesome tram TC onboard. It's an experience never to be missed if you're visiting Christchurch : It takes you around the town and it's fun for kids and adults both.Visited onWeekendWait time1 hr+Reservation recommendedYes
Great trip around the heart of the city and it's a very interesting feeling sitting on a tram that's 80 or so years old. Very informative guide given by the driver and you can hop on or off all day long!
It gets you around to all the highlights of Christchurch. I guess the experience can vary a bit depending on your driver/guide but worth it if you are NOT on a budget. If you are, I’d recommend walking as you can see the same stuff within a few hours by just walking near the tracks.
Christchurch Trams is a unique experience of history and city sightseeing. It is family-friendly and ideal for locals and visitors alike. The restored heritage trams are one of the city’s most iconic and best-loved attractions, and kids can go on a free ride. The nzd30 per pax all-day hop-on hop-off tickets will take you to visit the central city sights at leisure and most of the oldtimers friendly and knowledgeable drivers will keep us updated about the latest city changes in their informative live commentaries. Tickets can be Purchased online, or from the drivers, or at the Tram Shop at their stop.
Quite expensive for a trip in a circle that could probably all be reached by foot. But I think the lady driver was awesome and it was a neat experience in a way its cool for what it is...
