Marcus Durkin Architect
I have worked in the area for 20 years
I offer a design service for New Houses, Extensions & Renovations, incl. all consents
I studied architecture in England for seven years in the 1980's. Post qualification I started my own practice, Northern Design Partnership in Huddersfield. On leaving for NZ in 1997 I handed over the reigns to two of my senior colleagues.
After working for two years in Taranaki I have been based in the Christchurch/Akaroa area since the turn of the millennium.
Since 2000 I have worked primarily on residential projects; new houses, renovation and extensions, including a significant amount of work for Fletchers EQR post quake. I have very considerable experience in dealing with councils in terms of all the necessary consents for projects.
I bring a fresh approach to each new project. I always seek to respond positively to the opportunities and challenges presented by the site and existing framework.
I believe an open, honest, constructive relationship with the client is key to achieving a successful end result.
I always take into account environmental awareness and sustainability in the design process.
Many years of undertaking my own property developments has given me a very keen sense of cost awareness relating to building projects.
I always offer an initial free consultation, without obligation to all prospective clients.
