Stuart and Francine Murray farm sheep, running 180-200 Cheviot ewes alongside 180 Merino ewes ( they say opposites attract)
The Murray stud started in 2005 with a few Cheviots from Mr Carl Neale of Motueka and Mr Clifford Vanstone from Little River. Further ewes were introduced from Mr Richard Orr of North Canterbury. We have now bred our own specific line of Cheviot sheep being one of the purest breeds available in New Zealand.
Our rams offer easy lambing, we are foot rot free and never have to trim feet. Our health status is high we only drench when necessary, stock is fully vaccinated against clostridial disease. We are Brucella tested . Our replacment stock is chosen on Constitution, mothering ability, fecundity, wool and true to breed type.
