Champion Kids is a place that provokes creativity, fun and learning in a Reggio inspired and eco-friendly environment, focusing on natural materials and organically evolving experiences. We value the belief that children are strong, competent, and capable learners and who are full of wonder and curiosity to learn. We believe that children have a natural drive that makes them want to understand and know about the world around them and how this world relates to them.

We are inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach and we embrace Te Whāriki, The New Zealand Early Childhood Curriculum. As teachers we encourage an awareness and appreciation of the bicultural heritage of Aotearoa/New Zealand and have a bicultural perspective in all areas of our programme. We support children to gain a positive awareness of their own and other cultures. We want children to understand and respect that we are all important regardless of our differences and beliefs.

Our belief is that children are capable of constructing their own methods of researching and learning using everything from play to a variety of other hands-on-learning experiences. As passionate qualified teachers we will support and enable children to learn alongside one another and encourage all children to explore their richly resourced environment in a meaningful context. Our environment is considered to be very important to the learning process as it is seen as the ‘third’ teacher and has been specifically designed to provoke awe, discovery and wonder in children’s play and learning. Parents as well as teachers are considered to play an important role in the education of children, we see it as both our roles to capture, support and extend on all children’s interests.
