The Sports Activator role is created by a cluster of 11 primary schools in Central Southland, with the initiative to develop sports skills & fundamentals.
The Sports Activator programme is an initiative of Sports Southland and the Central Southland Primary Schools committee. The aim is to increase sport and participation levels in young people, up-skill our delivery of physical education in schools and sport coaching throughout the central southland area. With a physical literacy and fundamentals approach the children are learning skills they need to play and participate in sport in a positive way. The children receive 6 sessions per term which are delivered by the Sports Activator. These sessions are followed up by the teachers in their schools.
