Lovely place, at the beach! 30min by bus from the city, 1h from the airport direct bus. The couple keeping the guest house were nice. Room clean, quiet, in the back of the yard/separate building with private entrance. The dog Bruce was kind and friendly. Sumner is safe, quiet, nice beachfront part of Chch which itself as a city is more sad and but ugly - tge rebuilding of Chch wasn't very pretty after the earthquake. If you are in Chch, however, would definitely recommend to stay at Sumner Nearby activities: Surfing, hiking, swimming, bicycling Safety: Very safe, small town like atmosphere
Sumner is a gem . Sea and surf exhilarating and just across the road from the guest house. Many local restaurants and bars and a regular, frequent bus service into ChristchurchRooms: 5/5

Had an all too brief overnight stop in Sumner. Gail was welcoming as was the spaniel pup! The accommodation was comfortable and in a great position to enjoy both resort and beach.
We were staying overnight in the nice accommodation unit in the yard of Gail and Norman's home. The room is comfortable and clean. Definitely recommended.Rooms: 5/5
