Absolute gem of a place in Owaka for a short stay if stopping along the Catlins Drive.nnThe place has a Victorian Decor. Carefully chosen furniture to match the ambience. Comfy beds, nice enclosed backyard to sit and sip the morning tea, good bathroom.nnJill is the lovely superhost. Unlike modern hotels/motels where you will come in and checkout without anyone knowing, Jill greets you in person, shows you your room, points out to all the necessary and important bits for your stay. Nice little garden with flowering trees in front.nnWe had the 3 person room and were super impressed.nnThis place also has Surat Bay, Cannibal Bay and Jack's Blowhole within easy driving distances. All of these places are great for spotting sea lions.
Excellent communication and very flexible hosts. Brilliant guest house, and a room with own entrance and bathroom, lovingly done up.nIn this day and age it's refreshing to see a character villa restored so beautifully and all furniture in keeping with the time period. Lots of character and personality.nHighly recommended as a base for a few nights to explore the Catlins area!nThank you Jill and Alli for all your care
Wonderful place, the best we stayed at during our roundtour in New Zealand! Our host Robbie took really good care about us and we enjoyed the evening in front of a warming fire!nNice, cosy and friendly! Catlins lovely landscape is something to visit and also the small and interesting museum close by. A place that we highly recommended!
Very accommodating and friendly owners, very high standard of tidiness. The rooms have so much character and time appropriate for the villa! Reccomend to all for a beautiful stay in a beautiful part of nz!
Absolutely gorgeous! Drove through the Catlins today and am sitting in front of a roaring open fire with our host Robbie. Super comfortable bed and wonderful hospitality. A southern gem.
