We loved our stay here—an absolute must if you’re visiting the Catlins. Catlins Retreat Guest House is a charming, quirky place with loads of character, presented to an impeccable standard with real attention to detail. The host was warm and welcoming, which made the experience even better. It’s a pleasant surprise for Owaka—definitely a town to watch.
have a sleepover at grandma’s in this b&b that time forgot deep in the catlins.nnwe stayed in one of the front rooms decorated ornately and maybe a little bit quirky… and with every amenity you could need.nnbay windows provide a sitting area and the ensuite is spacious.nnfridge, kettle, tv and heater provided in room.nnthe visitor guide provided some history on the property which was a nice touch. maybe don’t wear the hugh hefner robe.
We stayed here as a family with two kids and had a wonderful experience. The place was very comfortable and thoughtfully set up for families, with small touches our kids loved, like coloring books. The owners were incredibly kind, welcoming, and helpful throughout our stay, which made a big difference. We had a great time and would highly recommend this B&B. We would absolutely stay here again if we’re ever back in Owaka.
