Really enjoyed our 2 nights ... staff laid on some pizzas even though we were late in. Bar, pool table, authentic NZ which was great for us brits.. made very welcome... and we had friendly ducks morning and evening. One mark down because a few loose door handles were a worry to close ... other than that loved it and would have liked to stay longer
No-nonsense but pleasant and friendly town pub. The tables by the gambling machines and sports screens are a good place to meet locals. The pizza wasn't very good oddly doughey flavor, but the chicken burger was one of the best I've ever had.Service: 5/5
Stoped fr lunch as I was told the had the best in town. If they’re the best I’d hate to try the rest The sea food basket was only just average Staff was friendly enough acted like she didn’t want to be there

Dined in first night, takeaway the second night. Both meals delicious
We got a burger and a fish and chips for takeaway. Unfortunately the worst food we ate during our 2 months touring New Zealand. The burger patty was very thin and had been over cooked. The fish was very oily and salty - the oil clearly wasn’t hot enough when the fish was fried and sadly had been drowned in far too much salt afterwards. We felt rough after eating; ingredients were of very poor quality and cannot recommend eating here. Friendly staff and the takeaways are “good value”, if you can stomach the food.
Food was the worst we’ve eaten during our tour of Southland. Pan fried fish was not fresh and overcooked curled up at the ends and dry. Roast pork was reheatedService: 2/5
