This is a great beach to go to if you want an enjoyable time by the seaside when it's not windy. Don't expect the traditional yellow sand beaches found in many countries such as Australia, as this is dark sand. However, the beach is clean and although there is some wood and pumice scattered around, it is still a good beach to go to. There are lifeguards to keep an eye on you and the water is clean and crisp. Situated only a few minutes out of Whanganui, it is a good place to go.
What an amazing beach. Had a holiday for a week and we swam everyday. Tjere is an amazing playground with a flying fox.swings, slides and a basketball court. There are self useage bbqs for the public to use freely
Fantastic place, right on the beach, with surf life saving on duty. Toilets and showers. And a friendly man who comes around to check that you're stickered
One of the best beaches with one of the best sunsets I've ever seen!
Took my kids down to re-live my childhood.nLove the hot black sand and rugged coastline! Was awesome to see them running up and down the sand dunes, doing the hot sand shuffle.nWater was lovely
