When the main retail streets of Thames are quiet, but Carson's bookshop is bustling with the busy hum of people seeking holiday reading, you know there's a good reason. Reminiscent of the bookshops of old with a comfortable clutter of books and that delightful scent of print, this is a bookstore that everyone should visit. Sometimes you find a book of gold in a gem of a store.
It was lovely to stop in for a quick look in the last 10mins of the day on the way home from holiday. Made us hungry to come again, to stay longer and really enjoy the huge variety of wonderful books. A comfortable, relaxed, light and airy layout, helpful and pleasant staff, a chococolate brown labrador to step around, several chairs to park awhile to check it's the book/author you want and the shop has the "new book" smell that you can't get in an e-book or the turn the page feel. We walked in to browse the store. They have quite a lot of items inside the book store including books, magazines and games. It also looked like there was a cafe that connected internally but it was closed when we went in. There were a few chairs around as well. They had a nice range and selection of items.

What a genuinely great bookshop. Staffed by genuine book lovers. I have shopped there for 15 odd years and I find at least one book I must have, every time I visit. If I could give it 6 stars, I would. Superb shopping. Thanks
Wonderful variety all things books, cards, novelty books, games. More than just latest titles out. Special reading nooks, seats available for customers - creating a slow, browsing experience.
This is a wonderful shop to browse, plenty of comfortable chairs to sit in and an easy layout if you want to find a particular book and be gone. Also, any book I've been seeking Carsons have been able to acquire for me. To top it off, step through the curtain into Hi Stranger cafe. I would give Carsons 6 stars if I could.
