Welcome to the page where members from past and present can stay up to date with whats new with our Cricket Club and offer a bit of banter.
The Carisbrook Dunedin Cricket Club arose from the amalgamation of two of the older clubs in the Dunedin Metropolis at the start of the 1989-90 season. The Carisbrook Club was founded in 1875 and actually took their name from a small creek flowing through the Glen area and down to where that now famous ground stands. The club gave their name to the ground and not the reverse, which is a common misconception.
The current Dunedin Club was founded in 1894 however the name is of historical significance to cricket in the province as it was the name chosen for the first club formed in Otago in 1848. A second attempt to establish a club occurred with the gathering of a team to play a touring English side in 1864 was short-lived. These along with one other attempt to form a club using the name Dunedin occurred until eventually creating the existing club in 1894 out of the remnants of the previous club and the Warehousemen.
Now the club fields four senior teams in the Dunedin Cricket Association competition and a number of junior teams as well. The club is based at Tonga Park with two grass and two artificial pitches which enables us to play cricket at home all season long.
The club prides itself on a good competitive atmosphere as well as a great social scene for guys to enjoy themselves on and off the field.
