Many visitors overlooked this beautiful sculpture and the beautiful landscape behind when they coming here for the photos of Cardrona Hotel. Kārearea is an endangered falcon species in NZ and the sculpture commemorates the Kārearea conservation project. There's no info about the sculpture but I think the sculpture represents both the Falcons and the local culture well. The sculpture facing the mountains speaks volumes about where its population is likely to be found. It is worth a short stop over to understand more about this NZ native falcon species.
