Very well run camp for us and our tent. Some might say strict but they have the place running like a well oiled machine. Quiet, great facilities including chilled filtered water best thing ever on hot afternoons! and decent fridges. We also enjoyed tennis on the tennis court book ahead of you want a cooler morning/evening timeslot, long walks in the beach and the great local Waipu Cove Cafe.
Really good location. We showed up with our tent and they offer a discount to TA walkers which is awesome. Unlimited hot showers which is perfect, we found that at Mangawhai we wasted a lot of hot water as we didn't need a full 7min shower. Staff are really helpful and friendly, grounds are well maintained. Amenities are a little dated but super functional and clean.
We stayed here for 2 nights just after New Years. It was raining the whole time but it was still a great camping experience and fortunately our tent was sheltered from the wind by the sand dunes. The camp facilities were among the best we've used. Showers, kitchen. Laundry, etc. Staff were really helpful as well.
Plenty of nice large plots for camping and campers. Shared facilities all very, very good; great showers and bathrooms, separated kitchen and washing up areas and indoor chill out area away from the elements if needed, with charging, WiFi and TV
Lots of places to stay in thisplace but its better if you book before you get there. My spot was awesome. Place is clean and well beautiful. They also have activities for young and adults. Will be going back.
Good service. Free 10GB wifi! Saver as Skinny signal is spotty. Cabin has very comfortable bed and pillows. Has everything you need to prepare a good meal, grill, and coffee. Fridge is full size, has a good size freezer.
This place is awesome. Super friendly staff. Excellent facilities. Free showers is a huge bonus! We will be back here again frequently
I have stayed many times in the past and as usual the camp is beautiful. However I had booked the newer accomodation with the intentions to spend the two days relaxing with my 3 children and to take a look at the accessible option for when there Dad comes out of hospital so we may holiday in your beautiful camp. We’ve spent a long 6 months in hospital and what was intended to be a nice stay near the beach left me distraught an stressed. The camp isn’t at all suitable for a very young family or a family who would like to relax without the means of the beach and venturing out. I had to lock our family in our cabin so my children wouldn’t go down the ramp an possibly be hurt by traffic which left us in a hotbox even with all windows open an fan on. There was no option of Netflix as the TV suggested which was a big let down. I had made the mistake of assuming there would be a working smart tv and heat pump for A/C in these newer cabins. I made sure to come to the office an let reception know in advance that I apologise for any inconvenience of noise as my children were very unsettled with the heat an the absence of ways to entertain themselves when in our cabin. To reduce noise an interruption to other campers I closed all our windows which in honestly made it worse. I was thankful to the receptionist who offered a DVD player an some movies however when I called to see if there was other appropriate movies for toddlers I felt she was reluctant an I was under the impression with her tone I was being bothersome, there was no other movies then what she had left. It was after 1 am I had decided to clean our room an pack our things to depart once the children were fed and ready for our drive back to Auckland. I’m very upset we had to leave earlier then I wanted an it was more stress then relaxation.
What a gem, excellent appointed cabins with great beds, the best sleep in awhile. Everything more than you would expect, outstanding value a bonus. Great setting right on the beach front, customer service was awesome, everything we needed wasn't a problem. Thanks will be back soon.
A fabulous campsite in a pretty unbeatable location. First class facilities too.Service: 5/5
