Story

Camp Taringatura sits on the Banks of the Dipton Stream, in the middle of New Zealand's Greatest Province Southland.

Built in the 50,s by the Presbytarian Church, The Camp changed hands this year 2014 for the first time in over 70 years.

The Wallace Insall Memorial Trust now owns the Camp and it is run by a new Camp Committee whose sole goal is to Make the Camp Great once again.

Close to Great Lakes, Rivers and Mountains. Queenstown and Milford Sound are just one and a half hours away.
We are halfway between Queenstown and Bluff just off the State Highway.
Follow the signs from the Centre Bush Garage to Camp Taringatura.

The Camp itself is surrounded by some of the last remnants of Southland Plains Podocarp Forests.

Only 1% of these ancient forests remain.
Just next door is the Taringatura Scientific Reserve where you can explore even more of these beautiful forests.

They were felled as European Settlers sought access to the very fertile Soils beneath the Forests for Grazing and other Agricultural Endevours.
The Camp itself has a 260 m2 Main Hall with a seperate kitchen area which has three ovens, 6 sinks and plenty of room to Cook or Cater for your Special Event, Get Together, Retreat or Stayover.
The Camp Sleeps 67 people. Please bring your sleeping bag!
There are Toilets, Showers and plenty of great places for a Tent or two as well.
The Camps Renovation is finished and is available again to the Public, Clubs, Groups, Schools, Functions.
