This cafe on the corner of a busy State Highway intersection was worth nearly getting runover for. It was packed with dinners obvious sign of good service, great food and responsible prices. We're can you get a coffee for $4 these days. We weren't disappointed. Looking forward to returning on the way back up north. Cabinet food, great menu board with all the regulars burgers, BLATs, breakfast dishes.
Stopped in on our drive north. Coffee was ok but not great.nOrdered bagels with smoked salmon and cream cheese. Again ok but not great. Nothing fancy just toasted bagel with a blob of cream cheese and smoked salmon. No lemon, no capers. And the bagel was nothing to write home about.nIf you’re hungry and not fussy I’m sure it’s fine but if you’re expecting a nice sit down cafe experience think again.
Super delicious homemade cakes, free water to drink, a super friendly and happy owner who served us. Directly next to the road, so just hop in and enjoy a nice piece of cake in a family owned local cafe!nServes also some breakfast and lunch menus.
Must stop and enjoy a great choice counter food items. The corn fritter with salad or the Feta spinach Quiche are both excellent. Get a piece of th best Carrot Cake in New Zealand ...
Back again for a lunch, another dissappointing visit.nnThis time they obviously didn't listen to our request.nnThere are two photos attached. One showing previous excellent meals with the sauces supplied on the side in small dishes, the other as it was today, however with all the calimari that had all ready been eaten, and the sauces still partially showing on the remaining chips. nnHow difficult is it to understand this:- please don't put the chilli sauce all over the calimari, but supply it on the side, and I don't need any aoli at all.nAs in the first photo.nnAlso I told them that I cannot have any salt at all on any part of the meal please.nnWhen the meal arrived, I raised the problem of the sauce with the server, which had been poured over the meal, the server offered to remake the meal which was good.nnHowever I said that I could eat it this time, but that was well before I had finished all of the calimari which completely covered all of the chips.nnWhen I finally reached the chips that were underneath the calimari, that was when I noticed that all of the chips had been salted.nnIt was far too late to do anything about it then, other than explain my concern to the server again, he just shrugged his shoulders and smiled. nnMy wife had a ham, cheese and pineapple toasted sandwich which was perfect, and my coffee was great, so 2 out of three is not all bad.nnCan't see us returning back here in the near future.nn****nnFollowing a number of excellent visits, today's visit was very dissappointing.nnWe ordered our meals, mine arrived in good time, and we waited for my wife's meal to be presented, in the meantime my meal was getting cold.nnSo I commenced eating it, I finished my meal and after the second enquiry they advised us that they had forgotten to order my wife's meal.nnWhile we waited for this we, had our coffee, my coffee was great.nnHowever my wife's coffee was pathetic, and they agreed to remake it for her.nnMy wife's meal finally arrived and it was excellent.nnNot the service or quality we have been used to recieving from here.nn****nnReviewing this again, it is back to being brilliant.nnThe last time we visited the chef just must have had a bad day.nSaturdays meals were great, just as we have come to expect. nnMoved it up to 5 starsnn*****nnHave to review this cafe today, I was extremely dissappointed with the meal from our previous visits.nnTherefore I have changed the stars from 5 to 3, purely based on today's experience.nnThe crispy calimari wasn't crispy at all. In fact the coating was soft and not at all inticing, I just couldn't eat and enjoy this meal this time! nnI always ask for, as we did again this time, for the sauces to be supplied on the side.nnHowever both the aioli and chilli was smothered all over the food, the waitress commented that the chef must have missed her instruction, which I seriously question as being correct.nnVery poor experience from what we have had previously.nn*****nnJust can't beat this place for calimari and chips, as I have said before you can have it with salad but I request just chips. However they provide far too many chips.nnThe chili dip is spot on, the right amount of heat, aioli is okay as well, but could do without it though, tomato sauce if you want it.nn*****nnReturned again, for an extremely satisfying lunch, and I repeat my earlier comments, has to be the best calimari ever, cooked to perfection.nnAlso as before, they do never skimp on the potato fries, well drained, cooked spot on.nnWe will return, and good excuse to get cheap petrol from the Mobil service station as well.nn******nnHad the best ever calimari, with chips instead of salad and too many chips to eat, perfect meal. The coffee with the meal was excellent. This outlet gets very busy, you might have to wait, which is an indicator of how good it is. A must if you are going through Wells Ford, and want a very good meal.nnWe went back again last week, had the same lunch, with exactly the same result, first class for a local cafe. Service is great
