Since 1991 Café Valentino has been one of Christchurch's favourite dining destinations, and it's easy to see why.
Café Valentino offers superb food, an excellent bar and great atmosphere!
Enjoy a drink at the bar choosing from more than 35 selected wines by the glass, a superb range of local boutique and international beers on tap including an Italian selection. Or try a cocktail from our contemporary and classic mix. If you are a wine connoisseur try a wine from our 'Vault' collection which offers over 60 of New Zealand and Australia's finest including a great selection of our world famous Pinot Noir.
Thirst quenched?, time for some great food! Try a pizza, the sort of pizza that only an Italian wood fired oven can produce, or try something from our pasta selection. or perhaps one of our award winning New Zealand beef and lamb dishes.
Since 1997 (except for 2012 when we were destroyed by the earthquake) Café Valentino has been awarded the coveted Gold Plate for New Zealand Beef and Lamb excellence.
Finish off your meal with one of our delicious desserts, everything is made fresh daily on the premises.

It was really nice to dine for one of the first times here, usually we have only ever had drinks here! Amazing service from Suzi and we loved the food. We were so full we nearly needed rolled out the door. We also loved that Cafe Valentino was able to cater to our dietary needs: vegan, gluten free, soy and peanut free with out any fuss. Delicious drinks. We look forward to dining again.
We really loved cafe valentions as they definitely made an effort to try and make ur dinning experience a pleasant one with regardsto the open space and top notch decor, the staff and management where super friendly and very quick and professional with the service! The food was next level amazing and I would highly recommend this restaurant as u would not be disappointed !
We had an early dinner and used a Dining Website that offered a discount. The atmosphere was lovely, the seating was comfortable. We were a group of 4 and sat in a booth. We ordered woodfired garlic bread which we shared. The waitstaff were friendly and professional, our drinks order was taken immediately and came back fast. We ordered pizzas, and a child's meal which was also a pizza! The wait for the food was relatively short, and it was all served at the same time. We ate everything, the pizzas were thin based and very traditional. We ordered desserts too, the ice cream sundae special, chocolate cake and pear Panna cotta, kids meal included a large sundae. Totally recommend this resturant
The ambience is great and so were the pizzas. They were totally worth the value. I just feel like the pastas could be done better. But 11/10 for the ambience, service and staff.
Being a family favourite for many years pre-earthquake years, Cafe Valentino was the natural choice to celebrate a birthday in the family! Paige, who looked after us, made our evening a memorable one by her hard work and friendly attention. We had bruschetta as a starter, vegetarian Arabiatta pasta and a ‘special’ vegetarian pizza. All the items were delicious and well presented. ‘Special’ pizza because the chef and team there altered the ingredients to suit our likes and dislikes. This is the 2nd time Valentino team has made a custom made pizza for us, and both our experiences have been very good. The place was busy, as expected, on a Saturday evening. After a satisfying meal experience, we were happy we had chosen Cafe Valentino to celebrate a birthday in the family.

I recommend this restaurant because the chef uses only the best ingredients. The pizzas are in my view the best in Christchurch. The base is thin and crispy and the toppings generous. My favourite is the mushroom. I also love the cannelloni and seafood linguine. For visitors to Christchurch it is only a 5 minute walk from the central bus exchange.
Fungi Pizza and Truffle Fries! Food came super quick. Friendly staff.
