Visiting Thames, we found this delightful venue by chance! And we are delighted to find the gem!! There are various different eating areas, some lending themselves to openness, some to intimacy. We had a small dog, who was made welcome always an inducement for fur-baby fans! Staff are very friendly, welcoming, and helpful. We had arrived after the kitchen had closed, but a creative hostess ensured we enjoyed a delicious lunch from the display cabinets with a huge basket of 'French fries' each. The coffee was the best I have had for years, and my companion declared her hot chocolate was also the best she has enjoyed. The venue is interesting, it is nestled in amongst other shops, including a splendid plant shop. Yes, I'll be back!
We were recommended Café Melbourne by the proprietor of our wonderful accommodations The Church Accomodations in Hahei Beach as we made our way back to Auckland. The food was so much better than we could have ever expected. We started with their soup of the day, roasted pumpkin and leek, served with perfectly buttered sourdough bread to dunk. Then I had the lamb-shank and seasonal vegetables which ended up being in the form of a tasty pot pie. My husband ordered the taste plate and his order was the best. The taste plate included smaller portions of three of the most popular menu items: the pork and apple salad; the Go Kujan chicken; and the fish curry. All of it done to perfection. We highly recommend you stop in at Café Melbourne even if you are only driving through Thames.
Friendly staff, food was excellent. Had the chefs special crispy prawn tacos, so good. Iced chocolate was so good also. Would definitely recommend if you're in Thames.Food: 5/5
An exceptional spot. Food was absolutely amazing and the service was awesome. It was very busy when we came in but there was plenty of space still both indoor and outside. Fantastic coffee. Kids enjoyed the raspberry friand and chips, I had the chicken thigh - picture half way through my meal. One of the tastiest meals I've had in ages. Highly recommend
Excellent-great food and coffee in a really cool space. Will have to visit on a different day so as to visit the shops in the building, but we'll settle for Every single dish being absolutely delicious-we had the fried chicken, lamb burger and kids fish n chips. Just delicious.
Nice and cute! Korean chicken burgers and fish curry are my favourites!
Cool cafe in the heart of Thames. Nice decor, good vibe and great little outdoor area. Staff were friendly and efficient. The cafe was very busy and food took a while to come out, but it was well worth the wait. The brunch menu wasn’t extensive, but the food was well presented and absolutely delicious!! Both our meals were very tasty and perfectly portioned. Will look forward to coming back again.
I was just here with my parents and although I didn't know what "Freeky chicken" was, it was really good! I'm not much for heat so the optional sauce was a bit too much for me but the chicken and salad was amazing.Food: 5/5
