Restaurant Review:nnCable Bay is one of the few staple vineyards in Waiheke, potentially in the North Island.nFirst, the wine was terrific. I had a reserved 2021 Chardonnay, which tasted great.nI skipped the starter menu and ordered my favourite, the truffle fries. Small black truffle bits were used, which were like small crunchy flavour bombs.nFor my main I had the duck and it was exceptional, cooked to perfection with an amazing sauce that paired so well.nService was fast and concise.nAbsolutely great experience.
There’s a beautiful restaurant area with gorgeous art - a big impressive facility. However the tasting room is very dark and a bit of a waste of the beautiful weather. Doesn’t really put its best foot forward in my opinion. We waited a long time for each taste although the som was very friendly and knowledgeable.
What a great event. We had a work Christmas event on the Island and did a wine tasting in the cellar. An outstanding venue full of intrigue going down to a 'wine grotto'. The 'view' through two glass walls of the owner's cellar and the barrel room set the scene! We had a group of 12 and we tasted across the three offerings Seasonal, Winemaker and Reserve wines and Ben did a great job of telling us about the wines as we soaked in the venue. This was certainly an hour well spent and great value for money. Well done Ben for answering our questions and taking us on a wine journey.
I recently spent a beautiful afternoon at Cable Bay Vineyard on Waiheke Island, and it was an unforgettable experience. The vineyard offers a perfect combination of great food, stunning views, and exceptional drinks, making it a standout destination.nnThe outdoor patio is truly one of the highlights of Cable Bay. With sweeping views of the vineyards and the sparkling waters beyond, it’s the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a leisurely afternoon. The ambiance is elegant yet laid-back, with comfortable seating that invites you to stay a little longer and soak in the island’s beauty.nI ordered an espresso martini while waiting for our reservation. It was fantastic—rich, smooth, and perfectly balanced. The espresso martini was a nice surprise and added a bit of variety to the usual vineyard offerings, making it a great choice for those who want to mix things up.nnHowever, the real star of the visit was the dessert and wine pairing. I opted for a decadent dessert sampler, which was beautifully presented and even more delicious.nnWhether you’re enjoying an espresso martini on the patio or indulging in a perfect dessert and wine pairing, Cable Bay Vineyard offers a top-tier experience on Waiheke Island. The stunning location, delightful drinks, and outstanding culinary pairings make it a must-visit for anyone looking to savor the best of the island’s wine and food scene.
Wow - the new Chief at Cabel Bay really makes outstanding food. We got the most delicious lamp with Cauliflowers where shredded peel of picked lemon was used that just made the dish stand out. The same use of lemon went discreetly again in a few of the other dishes - BRILLIANT. We tried the Syrah - really a good glass- and the efficient manager Amber provides a professional attention you only find at exclusive hotels - combined with a staightforward and cozy atmosphere - WORLD CLASS
