Busy Bees Nelson is a Childcare centre in Nelson. We cater for 0-6 year olds and work as a mixed age centre.

Story

Busy Bees Philosophy
At Busy Bees our primary objective is to provide high quality care and education for our children. As a team we strive to offer excellent learning opportunities and care to all children and whanau in an inclusive home away from home environment. Children are not separated by age, everyone is intergrated together which encourages tuakana teina (children teaching each other), confidence and independence.
We believe that each child is unique and must be treated with acceptance and respect in order to develop to their full potential through responsive and reciprocal relationships. We aim to provide the very best high-quality care and education for children and their families through following primary care giving practises. This ensures all children’s needs are being met and trusting relationships and attachments are built to enhance smooth transitions and a sense of belonging.
We believe that creating a warm, welcoming and nurturing environment is important in developing a sense of turangawaewae (belonging) where everyone can participate, communicate and mahi tahi (work together). In this environment children can learn through uninterrupted play in a safe and developmentally appropriate centre within daily routines that can be flexible and offer autonomy.
Management are committed to employing high quality educators and support ongoing professional development to enhance learning outcomes for all children and educators.
Te Whariki, is embedded in everything we do and we uphold the curriculums aspirations for children and whanau which is evident through their learning journey. We support the development of the emergent curriculum and foster children’s participation in the community through regular excursions, whanau evenings and visitors to the centre.
We are a multi-cultural centre and we value all families as individuals. We respect and implement their cultural beliefs, family values and aspirations within our centre and embed all of New Zealand’s national languages.
