We had a absolutely scrumptious meal, We both had Mignon Fillet Steak wrapped with Bacon and Mushrooms , with seasonal vegetables or choice of salad, They are New owner's, Very lovely owner's and the Chef is from USA specialist in Ribs and Mexican food. She cooks a mean Mignon Steak. Bushmans butt would be the ideal place for birthdays or work functions. We highly recommend this place.
Great atmospheric themed restaurant in a town short of many other excellent dining options. My steak was very fatty, but otherwise a great deal from the specials board. Make sure to check the opening hours, or better still, call ahead as these things are not always kept to very strictly. If my review and photos were helpful to you, please give me a thumbs up Thanks!
Best food I've had since moving to NZ. Not disappointed at all. Good door, drink and service. I'm really pleased. Prices are fair you get allot of food. One kids meal will feed 3 kids.
Lovely meal, vg value and so pleased we tried it tonight. The roast lamb rump and scallops mornay were both excellent!
It was the third day in country, and we had been on the road for most of the day. Accidentally discovered this great local restaurant. I had the ribs, which I had to rate as one of the three best rib dinners in my life. The beer selection is ample. Service was fine and I thought the staff were very friendly. I will admit, it is a bit off the beaten track, but if you are driving through on Highway 1, this is the place to rest and have dinner.
Food was tasty. Great drink selection. Enjoyed my hurricane cocktail. But took a long time for our order to be taken Nearly going to leave. They were less than half full, so should have been a bit quicker. We had a steak dinner with a mushroom sauce that was delicious. The steak had a great chargrilled flavour. And a chicken burger with kumera chips that was very tasty. The chicken was very tender and the sauce was heavenly. And while it took too long for staff to take our order it didn't take long for our food to arrive. Ordered garlic bread first, so ate that while we waited.
Nice theme styled restaurant. Arrived just after 8pm and the kitchen was closing but they stayed open for our group. Good sized portions but over cooked the steaks. Didn't have a lot of items on the menu. Service was ok but could be improved. We appreciated the kitchen staying open for us.
Nice place, nice food, quite spacey. The toilet is adds to the character of the place. There is a bar, lounge area and outside eating area as well. The only thing is the pricey meal, but I do believe that just eating the appetizers made me full as already. I barely made it through my main dish which was chicken breast with potatoes under it and cheese on top. My date and I were literally bloated, with food up to our throats. Not much dessert choices though, to my disappointment. Nice atmosphere though! Warm place with smiley, yet insincere waitresses perhaps it was because they had been working for hours, though
Nice venue. But waited over an hour to get our Bushman's Platter, and they gave one to a table before us that arrived after we did. They also forgot to include a starter we ordered, which ironically was the only hot item we got after we received it. My advice, order the burger or just avoid this place.
We had an end of year work lunch with 24 people on 21st Dec at Bushmans Hut. Whilst the food was great they really need to up their service. Waiting 20 minutes for drinks and the last 8 mains served after most others had finished theirs was not so good. Perhaps more staff on would have helped. We had given specific times for starter platters followed by mains and ran about an hour over.
