Burkes Cycles Online - your favourite local online store.

"Since the 1920s, Burkes Cycles has been an active part of the Wellington bicycle trade and we're proud to be a family business. Now, more than 100 years later, we have seen plenty of changes in the cycling business. The Burke family still owns and operates Wellington's premier bike shop - but we aren't just a local bike, parts and cycling gear store anymore! With 4000 square feet of space, we're able to house far more bike and cycling accessories inventory. We've also spent a lot of time creating an online store in New Zealand that sells bikes, parts, clothing, nutritional products and accessories. You can also find us on Instagram & Facebook, so make sure you like or follow us to keep up-to-date with all the latest news and deals."

My family and I have been coming here for decades to buy parts, get service done and buy bikes. Even to this day the staff are all very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. Prices are also pretty reasonable and reflective of the honesty and expertise in store. I can't recommend Burkes any higher. 100% recommend, thanks guys!
I got my first mountain bike from Burkes in 1993 so have a soft spot for them. I now live in the Hutt so it’s not super easy to pop in but recently ordered something online and it turned up the next day. I love supporting a real life brick and mortar shop and one that’s been a mainstay of the community and am stoked to be able to order well priced gear that turns up the following day! Thanks team.
Ordered a Garmin screw-on seatpost attachment for my radar. The rubber band version arrived, but Brent replied to my email about it within minutes and worked on getting the correct item sent to me. Little issues will always happen, but it's fantastic when a company takes action to set things right quickly. Great service! Will definitely shop again! A++ Two thumbs up! Highly recommended!
Great service and pricing. Needed a bike rack that would get my bike from Wgtn to Akld. Don't have a tow ball on my car which meant a bit of tricky tech for attaching a rack. The team at Burkes Cycles were really keen to ensure I got the best fit and had no issues attaching and removing it... without being condescending at all to this pint sized female. They were more concerned with getting it right than selling me a more expensive product. So, so, so glad I didn't buy a bike rack online. Had no idea bike racks could be so tricky. Thanks Burkes Cycles. I'm super stoked with my purchase!
Really fast delivery which is what everyone wants. Ordered 8pm Wednesday new grips arrived Friday to south island. Great prices and products available will definitely be using again. Cheers
I tried to address concerns privately via email, but was given a stock response. Sharing here so other parents and children can avoid the same experience: I came into the shop with my son and mother to try to buy a Wishbone 3 in 1 balance bike. I've never been inclined to write a message like this before, but I was so shocked and upset by the way a staff member treated us that I can't just let it go. I assume it was not the owner who 'assisted' us, as it would be very surprising if a business could survive on such poor product knowledge and rude treatment of customers. The man older, balding, white who approached us when we came in, immediately started addressing my two year old as "Darlin'" creepy much? He also clearly believed he was a girl, as he has long hair, but whether or not he would refer to a child he presumed to be male as "Darlin'" is probably something for him to interrogate about himself, and less about service. Anyway, this man immediately began freaking out, for lack of a better term, about the possibility of my son touching anything in the shop, and demanding that we stop him from moving around. Nothing had happened that could have led him to have any impression that we weren't watching him closely, or that he was likely to cause any damage. His explanation, repeatedly, was that the bikes etc were 'very expensive'. DUH! 1. Whether or not we have any knowledge of the particular bikes stocked in your store we do, in what world would we not know that bikes are expensive? 2. Does it not matter if you break something inexpensive in a shop? Surely 'you break it, you bought it' applies across the board. 3. We were mitigating the risks: firstly, we had two adults, secondly, we were both standing nearby him, thirdly, he had done nothing more than lightly touch a helmet, which we immediately moved him away from. Yes he is exuberant, but he is two. Do you have a No Children policy? If so, you need to make the sign bigger, and/or stop people at the door. Of course, I understand that children can be a menace in shops, and I would never take him to a bike shop if I wasn't intending to buy him a bike. So despite the bad start, we persevered, however it turned out that the 'salesperson' knew even less about the available balance bikes than what I had gleaned from even a cursory Google search, so really he wasn't able to provide us with any assistance at all. At that point, my son attempted to try out the display model of the bike we wanted. However, as soon as he started moving, the 'salesperson' practically flew into conniptions about the potential destruction on the horizon. At this point we had to leave.
Great communication! I was kept regularly updated and informed of any delays, approx how long, options, etc. Helpful advice and just an all round great experience. So very happy with the result! Thanks heaps team!!
These guys have been spot on. I have only shopped through their online shop, but never had any delay or surprises. Very responsive and helpful!
They had exactly what I needed for my ebike. They were quick, knowledgeable, and friendly. Highly recommended!
They are a nice, locally owned business that came well recommended. I don't want to write a bad review, but I was given the run around on a bike repair that took over 6 months. A coworker damaged my chain ring. I first went in February to get it fixed on the recommendation from another bike shop that didn't have the part in stock. At that stage, their workshop appointments were 4-6 weeks out. I booked the first available slot for the end of March/ early April, and I was told they would need to order the part. I made an additional booking for early June to allow them time to source the part. I asked how much it would cost, and I was told that it would be ~$300 June came around, and I called a few days in advance, but Burkes had lost my booking. At short notice, they squeezed me in, but they hadn't ordered the part. At this point, I stressed to a number of people in the store that the situation was getting out of hand. However, if I were to take the bike to another workshop, I would have to start from scratch. So I had to wait again. I booked for the beginning of August, but that booking was pushed out further still as they didn't have the part. I decided to leave the bike with them because it was and had not been in a rideable condition since February. They sent a text, which in their defense, I didn't notice coming through, at the end of August to say the bike had been fixed. I was unaware the bike had been repaired until I got a voicemail on the 6th of October. The following week I went in expecting the bill to come to ~$300, as previously indicated, and it was $465. The people that work on the shop floor are nice to deal with, however, the communication and service is terrible and lets them down. I most likely will not return.
