Good store in Petone for getting a variety of household items. Better than Wellington City Bunnings in my opinion, probably on par slightly worse than Porirua Bunnings. Generally easy to find stuff with the store layout being identical to most Bunnings stores. Staff in my experience have been good/helpful. Only compliant is exiting the carpark, turning right onto Hutt Road across traffic is dangerous when its busy.
Good place to go for general everyday items, I wouldn't trust them to deliver anything other than what's in store.nThe communication is appalling, I've spent 4 hours over the last week trying to get a follow up on a special order I made, and had to go into store twice before I ended up refunding the item. Even the refund was unable to be done on the spot, and I suspect I'm going to have to go into the store another time to make sure that is processed correctly.
We were refused entry to store today because we planned to carry our 13-week-old unvaccinated puppy in our arms and walk around the store. Instead of using a bit of common sense, staff insisted we needed a lead — even though I had explained the puppy was never going to be on the ground or interacting with anything in the store.nnI suppose the ridiculous store policy is what it is but what made it worse was how the situation was handled. The staff member old grumpy lady who confronted us came across as rude and unnecessarily aggressive, turning what could have been a simple, sensible conversation into an unpleasant and frustrating experience.nnAs a tradesman and business owner I would regularly spend thousands of dollars at the store but this has put me off.nnMitre 10 staff were very welcoming of me and my puppy.
Went to Petone branch on 30/11 to replace a top soil bag which i bought on 28/11. I took the wrong one as i was after the outdoor soil. I met apparently a lady Manager at the customer service and i immediately knew things will go wrong. She looked grumpy, tired, angry and not really in a mood to work. She asked me for the receipt and i acknowldged that i don't have it on me but showed her my internet banking on my phone about the purchase. She got very angry and said she cannot do anything at all unless i find the receipt. I totally agree with her but gently [first time] told her that her staff used to help customers out if we have the card used and showing payment via internet banking. She became more furious and insisted she won't help me. Another Manager came, i explained the situation and I left the top soil there without requesting any refund as the lady was really not corperating and had this weird angry face which i am hoping was not being racist [don't want to use the racist game but it looked like it].
Very disappointed. We went into Petone Bunnings yesterday after seeing tomatoes being advertised. There was a couple of specific varieties we wanted which were on the website as being available. However, after wondering around for ages we couldn't find them and eventually after another long search found a garden staff member. Unfortunately this lady was quite unhelpful and not very polite. When asked where we could find the tomatoes we were looking for she sharply stated, we haven't got them yet. When I pointed out that they were on the website as being there she said well you'll just have to come back when they arrive. She then proceeded to grill us about whether we had a heated greenhouse! No offer to take our details so we could be advised when they arrive and rather than apologise for not having available what was advertised she made it out to be our problem and that we should know better. There was also only one staff member in the cafe so the poor girl was rushed off her feet taking orders and making coffees with absolutely no help and this was quite stressful as a customer to witness. This store is in such stark contrast to our previous local store in Palmerston North where we always had a really enjoyable shopping experience as the staff were very friendly and would go out of their way to help plus the cafe always had at least 2 and usually 3 staff members.
