History
This firm under its many former names has been serving the people and businesses in Whanganui and throughout New Zealand for many generations.
Our earliest roots go as far back as 1881 when ST Fitzgerald and Gifford Marshall were partners. JP Watt was with the firm in the 1890’s and later in partnership with GW Currie and JB Jack. Prior to that GW Currie was in partnership with AE Bullock in the early 1900’s operating from Wicksteed Street and Waverley. When AE Bullock moved to the Taranaki District, Currie joined with Jack and later Watt.
Marshall, Izard and Wilson, Currie, Jack and Davis, Turnbull and Willis combined in the 1960’s, Noel Izard and then Max Willis then went on to be Judges. JP Jack was a Judge in the Maori Land Court and was still with the firm together with his son Sir Roy Jack in the 1970’s. Sir Roy Jack went onto be an MP and Speaker of Parliament. Colin Riddet, the Whanganui Coroner was with Bob Wallis and John Tripe who were partners from the 1970’s. John Tripe continued as a consultant until 2015.
