A great cafe! Friendly staff, nice relaxing atmosphere and awesome cakes and quiches. And don't forget those killer sausage rolls. Don't miss this place if passing through Taihape.
A family favourite when travelling on State Highway one between Wellington and Taupo. Brown Sugar cafe in Taihape has an excellent and tasty breakfast menu and assortment of fresh baking and other ready meals. The coffees and tea are of a high standard as is the service. You can select to eat inside or outside in a sheltered garden area with clean toilets We have been stopping here for more than 20 years and never been disappointed.
6/2/22 On my way to Taupo so stopped in for a sit down this time. Very hot yesterday at 29degrees by 10am so opted for the outdoor area in the shade grabbing coffee, brunch & some goodies to take away. Such a gem. Photos included this time. 30/12/21 I always stop here on my trips from the Wgtn region to up north and this morning was no exception as I picked up a coffee made perfectly. If my companion was awake I would have sampled some of the fresh & exciting cabinet options. The beautiful souls on the staff are wonderful & up for a chat if you stop to take the time. Beautiful outside area & cottage wares for sale. I’m a fan!
Really lovely venue, beautiful garden and the floral arrangements on each table are just gorgeous. It's a very relaxed atmosphere and Disability friendly. Friends had Big Brekkie and thought OK. I was looking forward to the organic granola etc but was unfortunately disappointed at the serving and taste. Next time, ill try one of the popular brekkies others have recommended, or get a cake which looked delicious.
Hidden cafe in small town on the way from wellington to Taupo. Highly recommend visiting this cafe as the environment was relaxing, garden at the outside, get bit of stretch and have small bites to grab. They don’t have many options but cakes and sandwiches are really delicious. Really enjoyed our coffee and glad we tried this cafe out.
We had egg benedict with bacon and spinach for breakfast. The hollandaise sauce was great. They use Supreme coffee. Food in the cabinet looks yummy but didn't order any. Will definitely stop here again.Food: 5/5
Excellent, it's been a while since we have been there. Great wait staff. Lots of other things you can buy. Kid-friendliness: Great area in the court yard for the children to play in. Parking: Lots of street parking. Wheelchair accessibility: Right on the street so easy to get into the cafe.
If you are in Taihape this shop and cafe is a hidden gem. Great coffee. Nice vibe. Highly recommendFood: 5/5
Great find on our route to Palmerston North. We were in need of a coffee stop and came across this place as one that was still open at three thirty. Actually had a very decent breakfast tea and treated ourselves to a Lamington and some Lemon cake, both home made and excellent, this person knows how to bake cakes. Felt a bit rushed as we were told the place shut at four. As a tourist we haven't got used to how early businesses close here.
Nice place and consistently good with it's food and coffee. The frittata and bacon and egg pie are always good.Food: 4/5
