This place cannot be recommended high enough and deserves all of the 5 stars! I started out with a nice Hei Matau for which I received excellent guidance. As I enjoyed it so much I also made Toki on the same day. In the evening I found some Pounamu on the beach a bit up north, and I had to get back and polish these pieces. I had a nice talk with Steve in the morning and decided to I make a nice stingray which turned out beautiful with all the helpful guidance! One of the best crafting experiences I ever experienced!
Wonderful experience. Staff super friendly throughout the experience. Our experienced guide T was so lovely and patient, showing us all the different tools and how to work them. From sketching, tracing, moulding, sharpening, sanding and buffing the stones. Such a cool experience all round. Our guide was so lovely and encouraging! Fabulous experience and would 300% recommend - thank you so much for an amazing afternoon
Amazing experience!! We loved carving our own toki! The teacher/master is so knowledgeable and friendly and patient. And the lady at the front desk does beautiful binding.nWe loved every minute and would have loved to have more time and learn more! Thank you guys!
We booked several months in advance to make sure we had a spot and are all absolutely delighted with the finished products! It was a fantastic learning experience and the team were super helpful in helping us work out a plan and create our own pieces. It is a very relaxed atmosphere and you are made to feel so welcome. The phrase is perhaps overused but we would all say this is a 'must visit' experience when visiting Hokitika. Thanks for a great afternoon!
Super friendly and chill staff. Excellent place to visit. We did the stone carving experience and we loved every bit of it. Shout out to the singing carving instructor
