Blue Grass Contracting Ltd
Blue Grass Contracting Ltd is a family business. Brook, John and Sally, started specifically to cultivate land for forest establishment on easy contour during the forest planting boom of the late eighty’s early nineties. Mainly Eucalyptus plantings.
The family has a long association with specialised cropping eg potatoes, tomatoes, etc and the horticulture crops of pip fruit, stone fruit, and sub tropical fruits.
In 1996 – 97 Blue Grass Contracting developed cultivation machinery specifically for the forestry industry that deep ripped, mounded and compacted in one pass.
The results were spectacular with twice the growth rates and 100% strike rates. This industry took Blue Grass Contracting from Tinopai in Northland to the Catlins in Southland. A crop of Black Wattle planted on land cultivate by this equipment was harvested 8 years after planting.
The forestry industry was driven in the 1990’s by the Asian economy and low NZ land prices hence as these 2 factors changed, Blue Grass Contracting developed their business in the heart of the dairy industry in an area you would call approximately east to southeast Waikato.
This wealth of knowledge and experience offers real value to the specialist crops of maize, lucerne, winter annuals, fodder crops, cereals and grass crops.
