With one hour delay of departure, no apologies from staff or whatsoever, they turned the TV's on with FULL VOLUME AT 3AM, 3 IN THE MORNING!!!! we asked politely to manager and she replied, the volume is set, we cannot change it, I said but is 3 am in the morning, why are you playing movies at this time when we all want to sleep!? She said, we always play movies at this time of the night. Terrible customer service Disgusting bathrooms, dirty, unprofessional and unfriendly staff. We are never coming back to Bluebridge ever again, and we will make sure to spread the feedback around as much as we possibly can. DISGUSTING!!
I prefer not to post negative reviews, however this is a big company. I’ve always travelled Inter-Islander, but due to a last minute situation I booked with Bluebridge, that’s all that was left. Customer service was lacking, ferry 1/2 an hour to 3/4 hour late departing. No explanation. I recall a delay with Inter-Islander on 1 sailing, apologies given by the Captain- just a nice PC touch I feel. Would prefer Inter-Islander going forward. 3 stars from me , just a bit average
We have sailed 4 times in the past two months with Bluebridge. We have become accustomed to a minimum two hour wait each way. On one trip we were raged by a staff member for getting our one year old out of her car seat as she was absolutely beside herself, we were then pulled out of line and made to wait until everyone else had boarded before we were allowed to board. Today we had a four hour wait due to "heavy loads." We called the 0800 to see if we could reschedule but were told we would need to pay again! We are now looking for accommodation in Wellington that will let us check in around 10pm. Appalling service I'd say. Peter on the 0800 was extremely unhelpful! No compensation offered! It's a bad time every time!
First time travelers to New Zealand and I have never experienced a major business pulling a crazy stunt like this---fully cancelled our crossing, booked months in advance, less then 48 hours prior to departure. Ages to reach someone on the phone about the email notification sent, so unhelpful on the phone, only option was to book us on a 2am ferry 2am?!?!, and our kids are wrecked. Never offered compensation, never offered a cabin or an upgrade, barely an apology. I'm sitting in line waiting for the ferry to board while my sleep deprived children are breaking down and yelling at me, and I still can't believe it.
Horrible experience. We obtain noticed about canceled trip half hour before boarding time. We have to slept cos our trip was at 2:30 am. They keep office closed until 6 am. Instead offer place for sleeping at least as a apology. After they told that they call when another place will be find. If we pushed them for answer if it will be even possible find place answer was no. Plus office person was offended that we are not patient. Anyway we had todler with us which had to sleep on me in the car during the waiting. So we used Interislander.
No Customer Service We booked a trip on the Bluebridge on specific dates for a specific reason. Seven days prior to our trip we received an email saying that our sailing and others had been cancelled due to staff shortages. We were unable to get another booking on the required travel date so requested a refund and booked on the Interislander. Four days prior to the new sailing Bluebridge emailed us to say our return sailing had also been cancelled. No other suitable option was left to us leaving us yet again to go to Interislander and book a return trip. We were unable to get the required date so had to incur additional costs with a day added to our trip. At no stage could I get through on the phone to Bluebridge, we were required to email and wait for a reply, definitely not ideal when your travel plans have been turned upside down. The Interislander sailings were not ideal however the best we could get. If I'd booked my original sailing all with the Interislander I would have got our preferred dates and sailing times. Bluebridge, you need to do better with your customer service. The Interislander will be our preferred option for future sailings.
We travelled Wellington to Picton with Interislander and enjoyed the trip, services and facilities. Two weeks later we did the return trip with Blue ridge. The trip was delayed and we found this more than acceptable as these things happen. The absolute disappointment and disgust for us was the appalling state of the toilets on the ship. Both mens and womens. The stench of the men's toilets could be smelt prior to entering and the cause was obvious with urine on the floor at the base of the toilets. They were in a worse state at the end of the voyage. After travelling the South island for two weeks and using public and private toilets it is disappointing to say that Blue ridges facilities were actually the worst we experienced. Very dissapointing Blue ridge.
Ferry crossing was delayed but at least two hours, but through no fault of bluebridge. When the weather is rough is can be tough. . . . Kept informed initially by phone call of the delay and then the staff are incredible as well!! . . . But the icing on the cake is the free cookies they give out!! Oh my lord these cookies are the best I have ever had! Good effort!
I was a little worried that the crossing was going to be really rough as it was so windy in Wellington, but I was surprised at just how smooth the ferry was! The crossing was 3.5 hours and we took our hire car across with us - no problems! The views when arriving at Picton were great! Book DIrect with the ferry company as they had some great offeres on when we booked!
Despite the sea sickness, we had a smooth trip. The weather was great, so we were outside the whole time, enjoying the beautiful scenery.
