Self contained farmstay cottages, family friendly and located close to Te Anau, Fiordland in southern New Zealand

Mission

We strive to be as self sufficient as possible. We produce our own eggs, milk, vegetables, pork/bacon, lamb and beef. Wild venison is hunted in the mountains and we fish for blue cod off the coast of Milford Sound and in Foveaux Strait.

We can provide our guests with homebaking, venison, lamb and bacon and vegetables.

Out of all the places I've ever stayed at while on holiday, Sou'West cottages has been my favourite without a doubt. Sacha and Gareth are great hosts, the place is super cosy and they were kind enough to let us meet their farm animals behind their place. Highly, highly recommended to anyone visiting Te Anau or Milford Sound.

Lovely clean, comfortable and well appointed Cottages. Friendly owners and a lovely place to stay. There are horses,  dogs, sheep and a cat to talk to who love to 'talk' to you. I highly recommend Sou'West Cottages.

Private. Fully self contained. Country feel yet only 3 mins into town. Beautiful warm accommodation. Great shower and the most comfortable super king bed!

Clean, well equipped, warm,  so comfortable, wonderful views of the mountains, and the friendly animals were fantastic.

Had a wonderful place to stay and made a new friend! Fed the lambs out of a bottle and played with the puppies. Great local knowledge. Highly recommend this place.

Perfect location for getting away but not too far from Te Anau for supplies and restaurants. Hosts were very friendly and welcoming and keen to share their little piece of paradise with us.

Highly recommend Sou’West Cottages, beautiful setting, wonderful hosts and super clean. We absolutely loved our stay and will be returning in the near future.

Clean and spacious. Hearing the birds outside the window was lovely!
