Blockhouse Bay Intermediate School

I really think the Blockhouse Bay Intermediate School is a very good school. I'm a student in the year 7 of the Blockhouse Bay Intermediate School. There may be some naughty students there. But you just need to be classmates with him. I see other people's comments that slander the teacher. Your teacher may be very strict and cause some unpleasant things to you. Worst school ever. My son got suspended for no reason and they harassed him. Everyday he came back crying from the teachers because they are racist. I highly recommend you not to go to Bbi

Very bad school, everyone is sensitive, the teachers don't care about your learning. Principal is always grumpy - none of the teachers like him.

When I was in year 8, I was given a detention for an extremely trivial reason: forgetting to remove my beanie before entering the school grounds. I get that there is a uniform policy, but for something as insignificant as a beanie, which I could have just been asked to take off, I felt the school had taken things too far. Secondly, we werent allowed to use the bathrooms during breaks OR during classtime. The one time we were allowed, was at the very start of a break, which of course meant several people would have had to go at this time. Thirdly, the school seemed to just hate students in general. I always felt like I was walking on thin ice in this school. The smallest move, would set off teachers, and example of this being the beanie incident I described earlier. No matter how well behaved of a student you were, if you comitted the smallest "crime", the teachers would turn against you. The one thing that protected students from such treatment is the stars system. This star system is disgusting. The school is under the belief that these stars are marks of achievement, but the truth is, they are just a method of segregating students, and assiging them labels. Students who were considered "popular" tended to have more stars and gained the respect of their teachers, while other students were left to rot and suffer under their teachers neglect towards them. The education at this school is subpar, and is not sufficient to bridge the academic gap between primary school and high school. The only good memories of this school I have are those I spent with my friend group. NOTHING that the school directly influenced. If you want to go to a school where you are respected as a student, encouraged to learn, motivated to work to your true potential. Do not waste your time sending your child to this school. I may go as far to say that even home schooling could be a better option for these two years. Update: One of the reviews I just saw said that most of the negative reviews are from people who "just hate school". I can confirm that if they are referring to my review here, they are objectively wrong. I enjoy school, it is just this school in particular failed to deliver. The high school I went to did a much better job at being a good school than Blockhouse Bay intermediate. This is because the high school didn't punish students for pointless reasons, and actually taught us stuff most of the classes did at least. So in conclusion, no I do not "just hate school", I just dislike how BBI in particular treated students. Also, I had to repost this review from another account as they censored the original. My siblings and now my children attend this school. It is multicultural. Bonus there is a dental clinic on site. Easy bus route.

Can I just say that the people that didn't do 4 or 5 stars just hate school. There are great teachers there. My teacher is miss Parag and she's a great teacher. First of all, they make us do P.E for us to stay healthy and they have a great Haka too!

There is very little focus on academics. Their main focus is on sports. There were many people in some Year 8 classes that didn’t know how to do single digit addition, that is very worrying. There were some people in the class, who got the wrong answer 5 times when asked “5 + 8” Also, they don’t always spend their donation money and budget on the right things to spend it on. There have been many articles in the news of this school inappropriately spending their budget. I highly do not recommend this school.

Teachers are the worse they are super rude not nice and I don’t recommend this place at all

For me the teachers were bad and we’re so oblivious about students that had no friends or were bullied all they cared about was homework if you don’t hand it in by Friday detention if your late to school detention if you pop a balloon in class....... guess what?? DETENTION!!! I actually got detention for the balloon one in year 7 it was actually really heartbreaking cause as I child I never really got in trouble, but once I got into high school everything changed everyone was kind, caring, thoughtful and if you sat alone 5 girls will come and sit next to you and ask you if your alright or if you need anything, but to conclude my IDK what to call this by far year 7 and 8 were the worst years of my life P.S. they pretend to care for you, but all they really want to do is force another lap of block run for you if you get a low score on any test you had to do it again and again till you got it right it ended up in cheating so I don’t really get the point also I was in Rimu so I’m not sure if all the classes/ teachers did this but it was only my year 8 teacher who did this, I actuallly thought he was nice
