"It’s not about us at Black Rabbit Pizza!We purchased Black Rabbit Pizza 4 months after the Kaikoura earthquake. The then owner had closed the shop and was advertising to sell the plant, we went to look at buying a pizza oven, and instantly fell in love with this beautiful unique restaurant, it would have been a shame to break any of it up, so we purchased it complete. We know that you’ll love it as much as we do!We are a small family business, with friendly staff and our aim is to please you. We pride ourselves in quality and the high standard we offer to our customers. Everything is cooked and prepared onsite fresh daily. We are situated in our beautiful town of Kaikoura, with the view of the mountains and the smell of the sea."

Came here for dinner and the food was amazing. Tried meat lovers, aloha and the black rabbit in the picture, all were great. The garlic bread is a must try, absolutely fantastic. The service was also very good. Only slight downside is the relatively long waiting time, but it is still reasonable and understandable. Overall, a great pizza place!
Great little place! Probably the best eat you could find in Kaikoura, we were so impressed by the quality and freshness of the pizza, salad and garlic bread we ordered at very reasonable prices! I loved the chicken salad, it was delicious and seasoned so well surprising because my experience with small town salads has been quite bland. The pizza we ordered half'n'half to try 2 different flavours:a meatlovers and a apricot chicken and both were delicious in different ways. Pizza base thin and crispy but sturdy enough to hold allll the meat, cheese and sauce. Perfect. The fresh, cheesey garlic bread was a winner as well. The only downside was outdoor seating was limited to 2-3 tables. It was a very hot day and we were lucky to grab the last tiny outdoor table, it was also a bit loose and wonky so we fixed it and stablized it with some nearby bottle caps. Also the cocktails sound really nice on the menu, but the bartender of the day definitely needs some more experience to balance out the sweet / sour / liquor / mixer ratio. But knowing how flat out they were over the busy New Years holiday period, very impressed with how quickly we got our food. Thank you for an excellent meal.
Finally tried Black Rabbit the other day, I thought the pizza had a good amount of ingredients on top and spread out well. I guess what I would expect for a $22 pizza. I like the thin base but the edges were a bit burnt. The kumara fries were a bit sugary? Sweet to the tooth..? Still nice in some way. I think it should be stated when delivery is available when I see delivery available I assume it's all day but then the guy guy me delivery starts at 5pm, maybe I missed that info? Either way he was nice and it was a nice pizza thank you.
The best pizza I have ever tried.. if I could give 10 stars I would! Had the kangaroo one it was delicious!!!! Best service as well the girl at the front was amazing the place was extremely busy but she was great taking phone orders and serving tables etc.. Ill come back to Kaikoura to have pizza and the great experience at the Black Rabbit again!!
I’m sure I’ve been here a few years ago but I don’t remember it being this good! I had pepperoni pizza, Greek salad and fries which were all so delicious, I managed to eat way more than I thought I could! The service was great, I thought the new menu was really nice and it didn’t take long for the food to arrive. I almost forgot to take a photo I just had to dig in. I’ll definitely be back ..
The food was good, wine was amazing Little Angel, local white wine from Marlborough - delicious!!!, but the customer service was the worst I’ve had so far in New Zealand. They explained that it was a very busy day, and as I’ve read it’s a family business and saw the staff carrying a baby around, perhaps they really had some issues that day. Nevertheless, it was not only about the super long waiting time at least 30 mins before we even got a drink and the fact we had to order twice because they forgot our order; one of the two people attending to us was quite unfriendly. She didn’t seem welcoming at all when we arrived, brought us menus after a long wait and didn’t say a word, didn’t apologize when we asked for a new fork because the one we got had food leftovers on it… Nevertheless, hopefully they normally treat their customers better, and as you don’t get a vast choice in Kaikoura, this could be a decent place to go. I personally would rather not come back.
Stumbled upon this place as we are staying nearby for doplhin watch, located beside an Indian eatery. Absolutely amazing pizzas, highly recommend the Roo and Carnivore. Had dine in for a pizza and takeaway for the other, both are made fresh and piping hot. Friendly and approachable staff, had a pleasant conversation with the owner. Recommend The Black Rabbit for good pizza! Oh and another plus point for the hot sauce in house. It's good I went spotting it at the supermarket.
The pizza was okay but nothing special. But its a very kind little restaurant which is really nice. Also the waitresses are really friendly. If you like pizza and you are in Kaikoura you should good there.Food: 4/5
We had a great Italian pizza with a Greek Salad. Very friendly and prompt service. A great place to stop in for a lovely lunch.
Went here after long day of visiting the city. Unfortunately were very disappointed, it wasn’t too busy, so we easily got a space at the table. The girls working there were nice, although some up training would be great. They brought us carafe of water and forgot to bring us glasses, some guests were missing cutlery on table. Floor was filthy, due to short staff they were not able to make steak/burgers. Behind the bar everything looked a bit messy, leaking tap, bottles everywhere, no music. We ordered pizza and it was nice! Its a great place just missing TLC!
