Bistro Lago

Great location. Not great service. Average food. Wage beef burger was a disaster, hard chewy pieces inside the patty. No taste. Lamb croquettes were really good. Antipasto platter was average. Personnel not well presented, a bit shabby. Floors and corridors were dirty/ dusty. Location and the view is very beautiful though. Will go there again for drinks but not food.

you would expect better from a chain hotel. food is in general salty and oily. seasoning is in discord. service is patchy and inconsistent: one came to take order and then another came to take the order again. views are largely obstructed.Food: 2/5

We were staying next door, we come In for dinner and they were very accommodating. We had the gnocchi, fried chicken and my partner had the trio of chocolate truffles. My partner couldn't stop raving about the dessert. We decided we would come back for breakfast, we were not disappointed, we would like to know what is the cream you use on the waffle? It was amazing. The only thing I could give in positive criticism is the tables we sat at, a bit rocky but that a easy fix. Thanks

We visited on Mother's Day 2022. The whole experience was flawless. They have a diverse menu that surely appeals to a wide variety of dinners. The ambience of the dining room is warm and inviting and not crammed. The welcome was friendly and the table staff have hospitality plus, but it comes with a genuine desire to make your experience special. Our meals were beautifully crafted and presented. I received my steak cooked perfect, medium rare, very well done chef. All in all we couldn't fault the experience and we'd recommend highly.

We had breakfast twice and cocktails once at Bistro Lago during our stay at the Hilton. The staff at the restaurant is very friendly, willing to go above and beyond when we had special needs for our kids. The breakfast is extensive, with warm food cooked to order - normal egg stuff you would expect - and cold cuts, cheese, yogurt, fruit, pastries and a lot more. They make good cocktails as well, with small plates that are quite delicious try anything seafood.

Foods are delicious. Price is a bit high, approx $40-50 per person without drinks. Service is good. Waiting time for food to be served was around 20 minutes despite the restaurant was not busy. Their coffee is good, it is not in the drink menu. We asked the staff and they confirmed that they do make coffee. The restaurant do high tea as well. Parking is in front of the restaurant as it is always full.

Summary of my TripAdvisor review. Great location, great location, average food, expensive, especially side dishes. Service was great, no delays and friendly. Some extras were unexpectedly thrown in as it was my wife's birthday which was really appreciated. However we were charged more than 15% for public holiday fee and noted a provision for tipping which has no place in NZ.

Dined in on 27-4-24. Staff were friendly. Had lamb ribs with whipped potato and carrots, which were pricey, but very nice. Apple pie for dessert which was horribly burnt, should have sent it back in hind sight. Table rocked badly too which wasn’t ideal. Prob won’t go back. Felt it was pretty over priced vs quality.
