Unfortunately wouldn’t recommend Birthcare Parnell. We paid for the private room $500 per night which was TINY and my husband had to sleep on a trundler bed in the door way which was stored in the shower during the day. The food was disgusting cold eggs for breakfast and watery tuna bake for dinner and the facilities in general were run down with mould growing in the shower area and the decor hadn’t been updated in years. The midwives were amazing however all additional stuff to assist with breastfeeding was locked away over the weekend so we had to feed our baby with a 1ml syringe which caused a lot of distress. There are better facilities around auckland that don’t cost $500 per night. Overall, the stay was extremely disappointing and we regret spending that money as we were expecting a wonderful experience as a new family and it was anything but.
Definitely a great place to stay after having a newborn. You learn a lot here and the midwives are so helpful, although they do seem a bit understaffed as the midwives work so hard around the clock and sometimes might take longer to get to you than normal. Still very thankful to all the midwives that work at birthcare. The food is pretty good, 10000x better than what we got at the hospital
I would like to say a special thank you to two amazing midwives Chelsea and Emily who were amazing support during my two night stay at Birthcare. Both these ladies were supportive and caring during and helped me so much during one of the most difficult moments of my life, i am grateful for the support and level of care these ladies provided. Food was really nice, hospitality staff were not very friendly to deal with. For $500 a night i found the bedrooms very small, and i had to request several times for the housekeeping team to please change bedsheets and empty rubbish.
We had a wonderful experience at birthcare after delivering my second baby by csection. We transferred from hospital less than 24hrs after the surgery to a private room and felt immediately taken care of and in very capable hands from the moment we arrived. The rooms are cosy but very comfortable and functional. And all of the midwives we met were absolutely amazing and their advice, reassurance and care made our stay a wonderful experience. We would highly recommend a stay at birthcare before heading home with any new arrival. Thank you birthcare team!
Highly recommend Birthcare Auckland to expecting mothers and families. I delivered my first child at Birthcare and completed a 3 night post natal stay with my husband. The birthing experience itself was amazing as the center had a large and spacious room for the delivery for just yourself and with a variety of methods to aid in the labour process. We truly found all the staff to be welcoming and very helpful. The midwives especially were absolutely great, had such good knowledge for all mothers and were very easy to approach. We found all the midwives we had to be very understanding and supportive. Such a great birthing experience that I would no doubt return to Birthcare for any following pregnancy.
It's sad to read that birth care reviews have dropped to the lowest. I gave birth here 19 years ago, it was the greatest experience with all my kid's. The staff were great, my midwife, fantastic. My room was clean and beautiful. The food was wonderful. We don't get this in the public hospital's. Midwives were very friendly and kind. My second son was also here, but not given birth there as he was born in Auckalnd hospital and later transferred to Birth Care. Again, I experienced the same service, wonderful experience. The midwife saved my son who turn blue late at night while all were sleeping, the emergency was pressed by my room buddy another mother. The midwife who took care of us there, raced in and took my son no question, ran out with him to save him in their emergency room. 3 mins later, they saved him and then we were transferred back to Auckland NICU... I was so grateful to this wonderful midwife who was so prompt and saved my son. So seeing the low reviews is sad, maybe new staff with no intention to help mother's after birth. I hope they get back on top, because they were my fav with all my kids birth.
Highly recommend Birthcare Parnell. We did all the antenatal classes, all the research but actually learnt the MOST in the two days we stayed there after our first born. Food is great and the midwives really look after you. It’s a great experience post birth which can be quite overwhelming it’s amazing to have thus care and support
Worst post birth care experience, I left with my newborn that same night, not even an hour in. I had requested a private room well in advance, turns out they took the liberty of putting me in a shared room, where my husband would be allowed to stay in the other bed because of my “condition” I had been treated for depression during pregnancy. But we had to keep it shush shush because they had to deny the other new mum in the adjacent shared room the possibility of having her partner stay even though we were told by staff that she had asked for her partner to stay with her. Absolutely disgusting behavior from staff trying to have me in on their blatant lie to another new mum. As I was crying to my mum on the phone being distressed by being a new mom after a difficult delivery and the shenanigans of the staff, I started breastfeeding my crying baby with absolutely no issue, and one of the nurses came in and yelled at me to “CALM DOWN” so I could breastfeed better? Abhorrent post natal care. They had the nerve to write a report to my midwife that I abruptly left for no reason I saw the report. Disgusting. Please do better. I am not a New Zealand citizen and I think they assumed neither my foreign insurance nor myself would/could cover the cost of a private room, hence why I was put in a shared room, on top of them assuming my being treated for depression meant I was too mentally ill to take proper care of my baby. I am lucky I only lived 2minutes away from Birthcare Parnell but I cannot imagine how much more abuse they have inflicted on postpartum Mums. Shame on you
We first went for shared room but the experience wasn’t good so moved into private room. Upgrade to private room was worth, they taught us all the necessary lessons to cope up and transition into new parenting role. We highly recommend them.
Angela manager, Anna, Alicia, and Sarah midwifes Thank you so much for the exceptional care that you provided during my recent stay. Your warm and welcoming atmosphere, attention to detail, expertise, professionalism, and kindness made all the difference. I couldn't have asked for a better team of healthcare professionals to guide me through this journey. Thank you again for all that you have done. Sincerely, Olesia
