Welcome to Birth and Baby Support Southland, registered with the Homebirth Association. We are a group of families and midwives who are passionate about homebirth and natural birth and we aim to support you through your pregnancy and birth that you choose

Story

We are a group of families and midwives who support families/whanau who are considering home birth in Southland.

The Southland Homebirth Association was formed in 1989 by an enthusiastic group of midwives and families, to preserve the right to give birth at home, and support those who choose it. Over the years, the Southland Homebirth Association has provided advice and support to many Southland families who welcomed their babies at home.

We aim to raise awareness about positive birth choices, and to encourage women and families to maintain their central role in birthing their babies, whether in the home, in a birthing unit, or in hospital. We hope our birthing stories will inspire others to trust their bodies and celebrate the birthing process. We warmly invite all women who are interested in a natural birth experience to come along to a few coffee mornings and see what we're about; we'd love for you to join us!

* Library of books, DVDs and other resources regarding home birth, active birth and positive parenting
* Membership ($10 for access to hire from library)
* Birth pool hire ($80 + $50 bond, $130 total with free membership included)
