Betts Funeral Services is now in the third generation of being family owned and operated.

Story

Julian and Hayley Donaldson, along with Julian's cousin Mitch Ireton and his wife Kirsty purchased the business in May 2016 from Dick Ireton, Mitch's father. Julian has been working in the business since 2003.
The premise is situated on 33 North Street, Timaru and we are available 7 days a week, 24hrs a day.

We are here for you, no matter what stage of the process you are at or whatever your inquiry may be, we will help guide you along every step of the way.

Here at Betts Funeral Services, we specialise in customising funerals to your wishes, culture, beliefs and budget.

We are proud members of New Zealand Independent Funeral Homes (NZIFH) and Funeral Directors Association of New Zealand (FDANZ).

Betts were fantastic helping with Mum's service in Twizel. Nothing was a problem, and they took on as much as they could, so we didn't need to worry about anything. They made themselves available anytime we needed them, even on their days off.

The team at Betts Funeral Services made our job farewelling Eddie so much easier with their empathy and co-operation at this sad time. As it was a sudden event Julian was so understanding with our lack of planning and had the answers to ensure we sent Eddie off in style.
Such a beautiful group of loving people from first contact to our grandfathers final day were so cultural respectful and kind, just an awesome team everything we requested they made happen which took a lot of the load so we could grieve and spend time with our grandad before we lay him to rest in his final resting place.
I had never had to arrange a funeral before my mother died. I cannot speak highly enough about the way Betts staff led us gently through all the decisions that needed to be made. There was a calmness and kindness in the place, and with each a staff member, that was supportive for us as a family . So grateful to them all.
Officially the 5th time the Smallridge family have used Betts over the last 45 years, but none quite as tragic as this one. Under these circumstances, I cannot speak highly enough about the service we have received particularly from Julian. What a beautiful soul of a man. Thank you Julian, your willingness to go above and beyond at the worst time of my life will never be forgotten, meeting after hours, assisting my parents to the crematorium & all the intricacies of my requests - without hesitation. The urn is everything I wanted it to be, just beautiful, everything my beautiful sister deserves. Our celebrant Jo was a perfect match. How fabulous to have such a warm hearted team, delivering a beautiful service for us and we still have the finishing touches on cremation jewellery and keepsakes to go. Thank you so much for being so accomodating, your patience with me has been saintly. I never WANT to use your services again, but if I do have to, it will absolutely be without hesitation.
Excellent service from Gary and the staff at Betts. They at all times acted with compassion and care and helped at every turn. I have no hesitation at recommending there service.
Amazing and supportive service throughout. From the personal touch displayed to the caring nature and compassion shown by the staff. Thank you for respecting our son with the upmost dignity. Special mention to our wonderful funeral director Jane who was always open and accepting of any changes.
