I have been to Bennetts many times but this is my first review. The place looks lovely with all the olive trees at the entrance. Their chocolates are fantastic and staff are very friendly and helpful.
Loved everything about this place. The setting, the ambient, the vibe, the green, the layout, the menu, the food, the staff, the coffee. Unreal little european cafe, feel so foreign for NewZealand. Definitely a gem to visit in Mangawhai.
A must see if you're in the area. A great coffee shop set in beautiful surroundings. The chocolate shop is full of yummy chocolate creations and the owner is lovely. Warm, sharp and witty, she made it a memorable experience. Would definitely go back.
What a fantastic chocolate shop! Do try their chocolate shots. Worth the money and experience. My photo taking does not do the chocolate shots justice.
You definitely have to stop on this cafe between Auckland going to Whangarei or somewhere north and try their chocolate, and eat at their rustic and well presented cafe! So much choices for the chocs, definitely a haven for chocoholics like me! Cafe downside is when it gets too much busy, you might need to wait a bit longer for your orders to arrive. Nonetheless, highly recommended place at Mangawhai!
We came here daily 3 days in a row. The food was a hit for breakfast on all 3 days. Absolutely loved their version of French toast. The cabinet food was also declicious. I loved the creamed rice and sandwiches and pretty much everything we ordered. The highlight was the hot chocolate where they give you a bar of Benetts chocolate. This magically melts in the drink and makes it even more divine. Would come back here again and tell everyone about it. Worth the drive and stopping by. Best to go Early morning on weekends to avoid crowds so you can get a good seat. Their set up is great and the service is brilliant.
Get ready to wait if you come at the peak hour. We came on Sunday at 11am. Only the part before the entrance not the patio are dog friendly. And quite a few people are keen on this spot. So you just got to wait. Wait for food was also around 40 mins, but to be fair, we were warned. Staff is supernice, despite being crazy busy and overwhelmed. Get the signature hot chocolate and the croissant. Great combo!
I loved it. Nice surroundings and great place to stop for a coffee. Lovely chocolate, albeit expensive. It is possible to see the chocolate being made. Also an informative film. My husband thought it was a bit overpriced and pretentious. I bought a load of choc and will eat it in front of him
Traveling between auckland-dargaville with detour to visit bennets. Was fabulous. Beautiful layout. Dined at cafe with burger & chips which was very quick & tasty. My little niece had the childrens pancakes which was a good portion & fresh. Chocolate shop great. Will definitely go back
A mini road trip pit stop, and the atmosphere is very warm fitting and family friendly. Hot chocolate is pretty good, I like how it’s DIY kinda hot chocolate
