I’ve played guitar on and off over the year but never took a lesson until earlier this year with Ben. He truly takes the individual student’s desire into account when creating lessons. He listened to what I wanted to learn and helped me develop goals for my practice and playing. His lessons keep me challenged while letting me help choose the direction I go with my playing. I’m looking forward to exploring a variety of different styles and further improving my skills . I would recommend Ben to anyone wanting to learn or improve at playing guitar.
After being a "self taught" guitar player for five years on and off, going to Ben was the best decision I made. In the short time I have spent with him, my guitar playing progressed from bedroom guitarist to a guitar player who is now confident to play with others and play the music that I love. The attention to detail Ben brings to his lessons means that each session is productive and builds on your guitar playing. His laid back demeanour creates an environment where the nervousness of playing and sucking in front of others disappears. I couldn't ask for a better guitar teacher. Thank you Ben.
I don't often write reviews, but I thought that I would write a review of Ben's. ability to teach Guitar, Ben truly knows what he is doing, I knew nothing really about playing guitar, in a year & a half Ben has made my journey a pleasant one, [I am not finished yet], I thought it would be difficult but if you are prepared to listen, & do the homework, you will get an enormous amount out of Ben's lessons, you will then be able to play songs, I can't recommend him more highly.
Ben has a natural ability in being able to connect with his students, and to not only teach them at their level, but to encourage them to believe in themselves. Our daughter has been learning the ukulele and guitar with Ben for two terms, and we are amazed at how quickly Ben has been able to establish a rapport, and bring her up to a level where she is able to read music and play with confidence. Ben is very easy going, encouraging, organised and has a genuine desire to teach his students. Choosing Ben as your next music tutor will be one of the best musical decisions you will ever make! I am constantly recommending Ben to anyone who has an interest in playing ukulele or guitar. He is very warm and knowledgeable. He is willing to adapt teaching to suit the individual taking into account their musical preferences, motivation for practising I’m guessing that’s not just an issue for my daughter , and individual goals for learning. He is professional and has supplied tracks to play along with with variations in tempo to facilitate practice. He has been quick to make adjustments to learning during COVID conditions.
Ben is friendly, enthusiastic, and has a knack for knowing when to push a little and when to revise. I've been trying to learn guitar on and off for decades, using books and more recently apps and the internet. They're ok for what they are, but no substitute for having a living, breathing, experienced human teacher. I've made more progress in the last 2 months than I'd made in years trying to teach myself, and having a regular lesson is a great motivator. Try Ben, I'm glad I did!
Ben is currently teaching my daughter the ukulele. Ben is a very patient and approachable teacher. He allows Oriana to select her own songs to learn and is kind and supportive of her learning. I would absolutely recommend Ben as a tutor.
I was wanting to learn some proper technique on the ukulele and came across Ben on the internet and I'm so glad I did!! He is extremely professional and patient, and with just a couple of sessions with him I have greatly improved and no longer lack confidence to jam on my little uke. I've moved away from NZ but will continue to take lessons with him via Skype. I cannot recommend Ben enough! It's nerve racking learning a new instrument as and adult but he definitely made me feel totally comfortable and at ease.
Amazing guitarist and person. I highly recommend to anyone who wants to learn guitar or ukulele to go with Ben. He's kind, friendly, a great teacher and a all round great person. I've had the best time with him the past 2 years and made me improve hugely. 10/10
