I am all abuzz about my awesome experience at Beetopia! It was about 1½ hours up from Auckland to drive to Matakana, and the unpredictable weather was typical NZ springtime … but Grass our bee educator was patient and flexible with us so we could enjoy a sunny relaxed experience. She is passionate about bees, very knowledgeable, uand makes learning about bees and honey so interesting and delicious! I loved getting into an authentic bee suit, wandering her beautiful garden and inspecting her busy hives. Grass was happy to answer all my questions, and pointed out the queen bee and the communication dances of the worker bees in the frames. The Beetopia shop offers a large range of local honey flavors, and Grass also creates beautiful crafts from the beeswax of her hives. So glad we came!!

Such a great day today visiting Beetopia with the kids. The sensory table is wonderful, they loved being able to touch everything on it! And the honey tasting was divine. Grass is very passionate about teaching and sharing her knowledge of bees with kids and adults alike. Beautiful set up and wonderful products, great in time for Xmas.

We had the best experience with Grass today! We did the 30 minute tour/tasting with our group of 7 adults ranging from 25-60 and a 3 year old and 2 year old; everyone enjoyed it. Grass did a great job of explaining the entire bee keeping process, life cycle of a bee and hive, and answered all of our curious questions. There were toys and a sensory table to keep the Littles hands busy. We got to try 5-6 different honeys and Grass took time to explain the uniqueness of each one to us. Grass and her daughter Michelle are so welcoming, and patient with all our questions and our toddlers. We really did have the best time. Will be back for sure. Highly recommend this hidden local treasure. Thank you Grass and Michelle!

A wonderful introductory course to beekeeping with the team at Beetopia. There was a nice balance between theory, and hands on learning. Overall, I am happy I did the course, and feel more confident taking care of bees.

What a stunning spot!! The surrounding land and the shop are beautiful. So interesting and the kids loved it, a fully interactive table for them. Grass was so welcoming and full of knowledge. The honey was absolutely devine!!

Yesterday I attended an initial beekeeping course with Grass and Michelle. What a fantastic experience. Excellent teaching, well presented, and a bucket load of information to digest. Excellent snacks as an aside. Lots of yummy stock to try and purchase in the very cute, themed shop. Very happy to strongly recommend this.

What a treat to spend the morning being pampered with morning treats and beautiful beverages to try. All bee themed of course! The Queen Bees, Grass and Michelle made us so welcome and shared their passion and knowledge in a ‘hands’ on experimental way. My fire for the well-being of our native and cultivated bees has truly been ignited. Hopefully one day I’ll be part of the local bee keeping network. Throughly recommend this experience to all. Thank you Grass and Michelle for a wonderful morning.

Did the half day intro to beekeeping course with Grass. The course was very fun and interesting. Presented passionately and in an easy to understand. Recommended for anyone looking at starting beekeeping or even just for an interesting and different experience. Thanks Grass!

Had a great morning really enjoyed the experience and got so much from it , the host Was amazing full of knowledge, I will be going back for other events for sure .

My daughter and I just completed a half day beekeeping course at Beetopia and frankly we are both buzzing! The passion and enthusiasm for beekeeping is obvious. The course is readily understandable, all our questions were well answered. The honey tasting and morning tea provided were delicious. The hands on experience with the bees was enthralling. Careful explanations, good bee suits and gear meant a very pleasant and sting free session. I can’t thank Grass Esposti enough the session. It was so enjoyable and worthwhile.
