We went on the Ulva island tour and the kiwi spotting trip - both fantastic. Recommend doing Ulva early in your visit to Stewart island, as you will learn about the local environment and what to look out for during your stay.nKiwi spotting was an absolute highlight and worth paying to be taken to a location that is NOT accessible to the public - meaning the kiwi were very trusting and came right up to our feet. Kat was an exceptional guide that we were lucky to have on both trips. Hannah was also lovely on Ulva and Ange brilliant with the kiwi : Don’t leave it too late to book - these guys sell out in peak seasons.
The experience was amazing and definitely a highlight of my time here in NZ. We were lucky enough to see 5 Kiwi on Stewart Island! Emma was an incredible guide, very empathetic to the Kiwi and gave us great facts and tips of how to take photos of the beautiful night sky! no doubt we wouldn't have seen so many Kiwi without her careful guidance
We went on their kiwi spotting tour the other night and it was such a great night! We were fortunate enough to see 3 kiwi that night. The tour guide was very informative and as we finished the night we saw 3 more on the side of the road to double our number : highly recommend this tour.
Hannah and Angie contacted us before the tour to rearrange the time as the forecast was poor so our kiwi spotting was early morning in the dry not late night in the rain. We watched three kiwi feeding frantically, occasionally from very close range. We were lucky enough to see the Southern Lights too. A fourth kiwi crossed the road in front of the vehicle. Great guides, friendly, well informed. Would happily book with them again.
Our group of 6 booked Beaks and Feathers for a Kiwi Experience recently, Tuesday 2nd April. Emma, our guide, picked us up at 5:30 am. She was very knowledgeable explaining about what we were going to see and how we going to act around the kiwis. We did in fact see 5 kiwis, so awesome!! One inquisitive young male we think came right up to us!! Emma explained the differences between male and female, feeding habits etc.We found the whole experience exceeded our expectations thanks to our guide, Emma and her intimate knowledge of the kiwis.
