Bastion Point is located in Mission Bay. The Hop on Hop Off Bus can take you there. I took the city bus so I had to walk uphill for about 20 minutes. It was worth it. I love the tree with the red flowers. New Zealanders call these there Christmas trees. There is a monument dedicated to Michael Savage who was the first Labour Party Prime Minister. I also went to a talk earlier in the week with a Maori representative who talked about the lands and tribes. There's a lot of history here, and it's beautiful. I spent about an hour walking the grounds, enjoying the views, and sitting in the gardens. There is no entry fee to visit Bastion Point. Highly recommend. If you go by city bus, there is a bus stop at the entrance.
Travellers may not be too interested in the history or the monumentbut the 360 degrees hill top view over Auckland and its convenient acess to the Mission Bay and eateries are good incentives to visit and park the car atop the Basttion Point.
This is historic place in New Zealand. Good picnic spot. Fantastic view
Wonderful park. Love the scene of city from here. Came around 11 and were able to get the parking but later the parking was full.
Beautiful location with gardens, grass fields and an amazing view of the city.
