I had the pleasure of spending a longer time in this beautiful hostel. Hiriketiya is the place to be on the South Coast and if you want to spend that in a clean, social hostel, then Barefoot is the place for you. The owners are very friendly and always willing to lend a hand. They are very involved with the guests and want to ensure you have a great time. There’s daily social activities you can join if you’re up for meeting people and having a fun night, but you can also stay and relax in the garden with the most stunning view there is. Thank you so much Emma and Leon for making my time in Sri Lanka so memorable!
I’ve stayed in many hostels before. This one was one of the best. First of all, the facilities and the standards are super high. Leon, the co-owner, is an architect originally so he planned and designed the place perfectly. Secondly and most importantly, the atmosphere! This is how a hostel should work, great balance between social vibes and chilling by yourself. Highly recommended!!!
I've stayed here for two nights and so far this hostel beats the rest of it in terms of how well it is managed, maintained and they literally stick to their name "Barefoot". You will be greeted with an amazing sea view here..so best not to miss out on any beds that you see available here!! The members of the Hostel are welcoming and always make it a point to socialize with other house members by organising events, family dinners etc..
Really nice & clean hostel. I enjoyed the stay at barefoot backpackers and even extended my stay. The client beaches are so beautiful. You can surf or relax - everything close by. The staff/ owner of this place are so friendly and welcoming. I definitely come back.
Really enjoyed our stay here! We had a private room which was very clean and quiet for a good night sleep. Staff is very friendly and have plenty of good tips where to go. It was one of those rare rainy days in Hiriketiya and we were very happy to spend it here! Got to meet a lot of lovely people, played games and went all together for a social activity. Can definitely recommend this place for your stay in Hiriketiya.
Every person that I met loved this place!!! Beautiful amazing garden, but the view is seen only from the big dorms and not from the center lounge. Location is good but takes a walk up and down the hill to get to the beach, it bothered me ..the 4 bed dorm is super tiny and not a comfortable room to stay in . The 12 dorm bed is in front of the amazingggg view but the shower is outside of the room . Every day activities, a very social place Overall I highly recommend.
Barefoot is a great Hostel! The hosts, Emma and Leon are genuinely interested and welcoming: The vibe is social, but also very chill! The locals that work there are very helpful, nice and welcoming. The breakfast is great. I would totally recommend!
The staff was super helpful and internet was extremely fast! The garden has a beautiful view on the water and the tables in the garden are very inviting to play games and meet new people. I felt immediately at home at this place and the breakfast was yummy veggie eggs, toast and fresh fruit. Hiriketiya and Barefoot is for sure a place I recommend to my friends and already booked again for next week.
Amazing hostel!! The dorm rooms are very clean and the beds very comfortable with AC. The view is just amazingly beautiful. There are comfy beanbags where you can sit and watch the ocean. The wifi is very good as well and there is a great social atmosphere as the hostel organises something every day that you can join if you want to. The hostel is very green with beautiful plants and the breakfast is included. Highly recommend! :
Fantastic new social hostel! Facilities and location are great, the owner is an absolute gentleman and the hostel makes a huge effort it's guests in terms of getting everybody together and doing things daily. Couldn't recommend more.Rooms: 5/5
