3 motorhomes - last minute booking.n6 adult 3 kids.nAmazing host, who tutored me on emptying black water he did it. Wealth of knowledge about motor homing, South Island and the weather.nEasy access, in and out stay. Everything we needed, especially since my van’s heater stopped working. Literally saved my life - having electricity. Gold Coaster in NZ winter.
I cannot fault the hosts as they were very friendly and hospitable. However I can't get over the absolute stench of our cabin. The smell of stale cigarettes was completely overwhelming and it lingered on my belongings once we left. A few people smoking questionable substances too, but I believe these were residents as opposed to guests.nnHowever, the facilities were generally good with a fully equipped kitchen and the showers were powerful - albeit a little run down. I'd return if I were camping as it was good value for money, but I wouldn't want to stay in a room again.
What a gem of a park. We called ahead and were rightly advised by Dennis that as we were planning on doing the Catlins area that day, we would be best to delay our stay in Balclutha which we did . The park is very well appointed, the showers are great and the kitchen was very clean and well equipped. I had to do a load of washing but had forgotten to buy washing powder, not a problem, Dennis’s son Douglas offered me said powder at no cost ! Not many tourist park operators are so accommodating. Machines and dryers were very efficient. Thank you Dennis and Douglas for a delightful, stress free stay . Véronique and Michael
Whilst we only stayed here for one night during our road trip of the south island, we were immediately greeted by our kind hosts and given the run down of the local amenities and services. The showers were by far the best we have encountered on our trip and the common room was just such a sweet wind down area. Our stay was remarkably well priced and it included wifi which, on road trips like this, is a luxury! 10/10 stay and I would recommend to any international travellers to stop in along their journey for some good ol' fashioned kind and accommodating hospitality.
We recently visited Balclutha Motor Camp on a 55 day tour of New Zealand from the UK. We received a very warm welcome and thoroughly enjoyed our 2 nights stay. Denis was quite probably the best host we met on all of the 28 Holiday Parks we visited. He works tirelessly to keep the Motor Camp in a spotless condition. I can't recommend or rate the Campsite highly enough and when we return to NZ next year, we will definitely include it on our itinerary.
