Was really excited about going and having.a new healthy restaurant in town : Cafe is beautifully designed and menu looks great but from our dining experience, the protein pancakes were like eating a hard doughy porridge cake and hubby's omelette pretty plain. Paid $38 for that with a coffee each ...I tried to give feedback nicely but they didn't seem too worried or to offer anything else. ..maybe will try lunch sometime...
Nice looking place however the food didn't cut it. Had the kale and pumpkin salad pumpkin replaced with kumara which was lovely. The salad was basically kale with a teaspoon of feta, 1 tsp of celery and 1tsp of diced tomato and maybe a 1/8 of a bad avocado. When I queried the amount for the price I was told rudely that's the price. The juice was good though. Mmmm won't go there again which is a shame as it used to be a nice place.
Coffee was great but the cabinet food wasn't really appealing. I struggled to find something I wanted to have as a snack as I didn't feel like something sweet and there weren't very many savoury options. I was disappointed to find afterwards that there is a build your own breakfast and lunch which would have been great as I didn't want a large meal for $20 + It would have been nice for the staff to have pointed that out as the "build your own" is on the board but doesn't stand out and refers you to the table menu I only realised this when I sat down. The ginger turmeric slice was nice and tasted better than it looked. I think the range of food isn't as good as some other healthy food cafes in Grey Lynn and Ponsonby despite the size of the cafe but relatively expensive. The meals coming out of the kitchen though smelled delicious and looked impressive. They also have a kids menu.
Came here after colour run. The wait for food was 1.5hours. When we enquired after an an hour it was received with sarcasm from the front of house chubby Asian girl who was always yelling at the poor girl who was on the floor clearing and waiting on tables. It was ugly. They had a packed cafe and one girl on the floor. The food was actually decent. Paper cups are not a good idea when in house for coffee. Other than environmentally not great? Also we were there waiting so long it started to leak. Would I come back...definitely not.
It WAS great, reason for previous good reviews I think. The new owners appear to be trying to mimic the previous menu, but seemed when I was there to simply have no understanding of what the whole healthy food thing was all about. Quality and service downhill. Really disappointing, it had been great to see a healthy food place in Albany at first.
New owners who don't know what they're doing. Not coming back. The food tastes and looks like it's made by a blind person. Eggs bene with spinach from the bag stems kept, of course on top of $2 crumpets from Pak N Save cost $16.50?
Off the beaten track is this trendy café with good outdoor seating and convenient parking. Coffee was great and food presented wonderfully. Little bit too healthy for my liking but good experience all round
It's gone down hill with the new owners. I asked her to turn the heat on and instead of an Oh Sure.. i got oh umm i don't think it worked from the forementioned "chubby asian" girl. Then she said it was on, the heatpump was clearly vents closed.. Taking over from a successful previous owner will only take them so far if they carry on this way. The food was OK.
Delicious and some great whole food options. The service is fast and its always really chill and relaxing. The mixed mushrooms with feta was amazing.
Yummy coffee and a great selection of healthy, tasty food.
