BabyStart is a New Zealand registered charity inspired by a Finnish tradition dating back to 1938 in which new babies are given a cardboard box full of useful items to make their early months easier and more comfortable.
In addition to holding clothes, baby care products, toys and books, the box also includes a mattress and bedding which allow it to be used as a safe sleeping space.
BabyStart provides boxes to New Zealand babies in difficult circumstances at no cost. Boxes are available for sale to any New Zealanders with all proceeds going towards providing boxes for those most in need.
